INJURIES TAKE A TOLL: Before camp began, the coaches were hoping to utilize undrafted rookie running backs Arian Foster and Jeremiah Johnson in preseason. Johnson will spend the season on injured reserve after he undergoes shoulder surgery. Foster looked good until pulling a hamstring last week. The coaches were hoping Foster could play against the Chiefs, but they’re going to hold him out another week. Backups Chris Brown, Ryan Moats and Andre Hall will share the load against the Chiefs once starter Steve Slaton gets a couple of carries. By the way, the Texans aren’t interested in Ryan Torain, who was waived by Denver on Wednesday. Torain would be an ideal fit with the Texans, but he’s hurt all the time, including when he was waived. -JOHN McCLAIN

HALL SHOWS HANDS: Recent free agent signing Andre Hall has been getting a large amount of reps at running back, but the Texans hadn't thrown many passes to Hall. Most of the pass plays go to running backs Steve Slaton or Ryan Moats, and they usually use Hall for rushing plays until today. Quarterback Matt Schaub fired a pass to Hall, who had to reach behind his body with his right arm to make a spectacular one-handed reception. Expect to see Hall get a lot of playing time against the Chiefs, and he could get a chance to flash the hands. -JORDAN GODWIN
