2009 Florida State Seminoles football countdown: USF

We're counting down to the 2009 Florida State Seminoles football season, which starts in less than two months. We're taking a daily look at this year's opponents. Today, USF.

Sept. 26: Florida State vs. USF, TBA.

2008 records: FSU 9-4; USF 8-5

Last meeting: Never met.

Bulls outlook: This is a dangerous game for Florida State, scheduled more for economic reasons than promoting any kind of rivalry. USF would love nothing more than to knock off one of the "Big Three" and claim a spot among the state elite. And don't think Bulls coach Jim Leavitt wouldn't use a victory aggressively in recruiting. USF has an elusive QB in Matt Grothe, who can be spectacular or erratic. DE George Selvie is an All-American in many lists and commands a lot of attention.
