Upon the Penguins winning the Stanley Cup, the state of Pennsylvania currently holds three of the four major sports championships. When's the last time this has happened (or has it?)

I don't think it has. It's tough to pull that off for a number of reasons:

- So many Stanley Cups have been won in Canada, plus the NHL only had six teams until the late 60s.

- The Lakers and Celtics have won more than half the NBA championships ever awarded.

- Lots of states with only one pro sports city.

Elsewhere I asked, I learned that Detroit did in 1935-36. The Tigers won the World Series, the Lions won the NFL Championship, and the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup. This was before the NBA, meaning the won championships in all of the American sports of the time.

I don't think people in Pittsburgh feel like they hold all three championships.

That's why he said the state.

I'm sure they don't, and I know the people of Philly **** sure don't. There are probably few people who take any pride in this outside of Ed Rendell (and even he wishes the tilt were in Philly's favor) as Philly and Pittsburgh are two pretty distinct fanbases, but the fact is, PA does have 3.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
