Looking ahead to 2006:

Derrick Caracter, one of the top prospects in the 2006 class, lists UK as one of his five favorites, along with Stanford, Georgia Tech, Connecticut and South Florida.

The 6-9 300-pounder from Elizabeth, N.J., is considered likely to try the NBA draft after high school, but he told Rivals.com last week that nothing is certain.

"I need to be at least a top-three pick in the draft," he said. "Otherwise, more than likely I will go to college."

Caracter averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds last season and is ranked No.6 in the junior class by Rivals.

Howie - quit smoking that stuff, you're going to make people believe we're in the running for top-10 recruits.

Funny, I was going to ask him to pass what he's smoking!  ;D

All I have to say is that USF hoops has alot more hoop now because of the BIG EAST invite. The recruiting has picked up a notch lately.

It will only get better.

Here is the current 2005 class rankings from Hoopscooponline:

I was surprised to see that they have Chris Howard ranked better than Zaronn Cann. Perhaps, that's because Cann is coming off a serious injury and they aren't too sure if he will regain his old form.

BTW, Insiders just gave Howard 3 stars as they did Cann.

Coach McCullum is doing a heck of a job recruiting. I just cant wait until he gets USF winning on the courts. I think he is going to do that, and I wont be surprised if we make the postseason very soon with McCullum at  USF.
