For once, i agree with smazz... status quo is MUCH better than inviting ECU.

I wouldn't mind adding a team to create a real championship game for the big east.

That would require adding 4 teams.

The Big East's problem right now is that 25% of its teams are coached by Greg Robinson and Dave Wannstedt -- two of the worst coaching hires in recent memory.

Next year they'll both be gone, and we'll have a lot fewer losses to MAC teams.

And fortunately, the Asti and Cheese Conference sucks almost as much as we do right now, so we've got a shot at being the fifth-best league by season's end.

Smazza,

I'm sure your friends from Rutgers are talking too much these days.

This conference used to be stacked with coaches....Rich Rod, Petrino, Leavitt, Schiano, Dantonio, Edsall.... Over the last few years we've lost Dantonio, Petrino, and Rodriguez....and so far only Brian Kelly at Cincinatti has proven to be up to the task.

A 9-team league would be optimal, since we'd get 4 in-conference home and away games each year, 4 OOC games each year, and wouldn't have to spread the TV money as wide as the other conferences.

Having ND in for basketball, baseball, etc doesn't add much value to the league, but having them out for football certainly detracts.

Therefore we should simply tell ND to get all the way in, or get the h*ll out. Then we could even invite Penn State to make the jump. Even better, get UF to jump over from the SEC. Yah, right! LOL

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
