Tarpon Springs defensive end Donnell Engram, who signed with the University of South Florida in February, did not meet NCAA qualifying standards and will attend Pearl River (Miss.) Community College, Pearl River coach Tim Hatten said.

“The plan is for him to get there and then definitely to come back to USF,†Tarpon Springs coach George Kotis.

Wharton tight end Andreas Shields, another USF recruit, will “grayshirt†and delay his enrollment until January. Shields is expected to be USF’s only “grayshirt.â€Â

Also, Palm Beach Gardens offensive lineman Justin Green will not play at USF. Green committed to USF, but was told the day before National Signing Day in February by then USF assistant Dan McCarney he was not approved by USF’s academic committee, but still held out hopes of playing at USF.
