Tyrone Williams hits with some bad intentions.  I like this kid a lot.

Tyrone had a great year and was voted the top defender in his region.

Region coaches select 1-AA's best

THS’ Williams is region’s top defender

Clint Thompson

THOMASVILLE — Tyrone Williams put up all-region-caliber numbers on both sides of the ball.

It was on defense where Region 1-AA coaches felt he excelled the most, however.

The Thomasville senior, who has committed to the University of South Florida, was named by the region coaches as the region defensive player of the year.

“When he was on defense, he was a force,†Thomasville defensive coordinator Lamar Landing said.

Williams tallied 62.5 tackles, 14 tackles for losses and forced one fumble. Williams was the team’s second-leading tackler despite playing linebacker and running back on offense. Williams led a stout defense that allowed an average of nine points per game.

“He brought back a lot of experience. He had a lot of big-game experience,†Landing noted.

He is only a 2-star recruit, so let's not get to enamored quite yet.

Most 2-stars on BCS conference contending programs contribute on special teams and are backups.  Good to add special teamers, but we shouldnt be expecting this guy to start if we are going to be pulling in better recruits

Thanks for pointing out he is only a two star recruit. In that case, nevermind how he did this year.  ::)

Regardless of the stars we are all capable of watching a kid play and deciding if he can play or not.  After seeing video of both I think Williams will be a better LB than a couple 3-star LBs who signed with USF in years past.

We don't recruit most 2 star recruits.

What else would you expect from Mr. Negativity?  Its one thing to be realistic but another thing to be constantly negative.  This program has seen MANY 2 star recruits become bona fide starters.  I don't know the future but obviously the coaches liked him enough to offer from out of state.  If he had a great a season in a good football state then I'm happy.  He may or may not be a starter for us but I'm sure he will see the field other than special teams.

we need 4 star lb's

this kid is no stars

1 or no stars could mean the kid hasn't been evaluated yet.

Are you saying you'd rather have a 5 star bust than a 2star all american?

We should probably get rid of selvie as he was a 2star (maybe 3) center...

This is a problem with alot of usf fans on this forum,...

Get out of the mindframe that thinks 5 star kids will bust. They are 5 stars for a reason. I'll take as many 5 stars as we can get and see how many of them bust. I bet we'll be alright. We went 2-5 in the big east. We need 5 star recruits.

I agree with you that we need highly regarded recruits, after all thats how UF does it.

I just think that we shouldn't be knocking this kid solely cuz he is 2 stars.  This kid had a great season and we should be happy he is going to be a Bull.  Its not like he was a late addition to a class just cuz we ran out of options.  He was offered early and committed early.

Lets see what he can do for us before we knock him.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
