From the Across the Region subsection of Wednesday's Metro section of the Tampa Tribune:

TAMPA - A team at the University of South Florida won the Students In Free Enterprise USA regional competition in Orlando this week and will compete at the national level May 13 to 15 in Chicago.

Students in Free Enterprise is an international nonprofit group that works to create economic opportunities in communities.  The USF student team organied 15 community outreach projects in the Bay area this past year and volunteered more that 3,400 hours.

The team presented to a panel of business leaders and beat a Flagler College group that won the national competition in 2004 and won world runner-up in 2005.

The team has to raise money to go to Chicago.  Anyone interested in donating may call (813) 974-5462

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."
