OAK, TEX, MINN are all 18th or lower in payroll. STL has the 11th highest payroll and the best record in baseball. Mets have 4th highest payroll and are not even .500. The third opinion isn't expected to deter the veteran relief pitcher from undergoing his second Tommy John surgery tomorrow in Cincinnati. That procedure will be done by Reds medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek, who discovered a torn ulnar collateral ligament and torn flexor muscle when he conducted an MRI last week. . . .
