meanwhile, baltimore used to be the beast of the east... along with detroit...

if you  remember right... NY yankees didn't go to the playoffs once from 81 - 93 or 94 (might have been 92)

I remember.  I was strictly referring to the div. since realignment.  These 2 teams always seem to get most of the better players with the Bosox only losing out to NYY. Milwaukee was pretty good then also.

M9-where have you been?

I have been around but no time to post only to read.   My computer time is now limited. The co. that I work for got rid of its high speed internet access and went to dial up.  What used to be done in a small break is now impossible.  At home my wife uses the PC to make lesson plans for the children she teaches.

giants are right in thick of wild card

but they haven't spent 100 million on stiff players

boston had all they could handle from the giants

remember?

Sox have had a ton of injuries too. The Giants have the 9th highest payroll in baseball and have quite a collectio on of overpaid stiffs themselves. Nen $9.15 Ml, Durham $7.2 ML, Alfonzo $6.5 ml, Reuter %6.2 ml, N Perez $2.8ml, Ledee $1.2 ml.  Giants had all they could handle from the devil rays who the sox have owned ;)

Red Sox 64-52

Giants 64-55

kr-what happened in head to head competition?

there is quite a difference in payroll between redsox and giants

if giants had nen or his salary they would have acquired a starting pitcher this year and they would have been in first not dodgers.Injuries are apart of the game.

i never thought giants would be in thick of it this year while most red sox fans were thinking this was their year

There is a much bigger difference between Yankees and Sox payroll then Sox and Giants payroll.  I still think Sox could win it all this year but they need to get their heads out of their ass soon.  Sox have lost more games to injury this year then any other MLB team by far. They have already set a Red Sox record.

KR any word on SWill coming back?  I think Timlin/Embree put more games out of reach by giving up late homers than anything else.  They have not been very reliable.  Last nights game would have been a win had Timlin not given up that 8th inning bomb.

News is not good on scotty. He went to his old Reds doctor for a second opinion. I think he will be shut down for the year and may have another major surgery.
