That home loss to UAB was terrible C-USA officiating. That loss cost USF a chance to make a bowl game that year, and it was sickening to see the C-USA refs kiss the UAB's Roddy White's azz throughout that game.

i watched up to the called back TD, then i turned it off.

a few things i noticed tho...

1) our offense played some pretty **** good football in the first half.  Grothe was 7 for 7 passing at one point, Hester and Edwards made some beautiful catches.  Matt and BBQ broke some big runs.  our defense was golden in the redzone.  Moffitt was getting penetration in the backfield.

2) a common theme occurred during the game...  penalties after big plays.  after the first muffed punt in the Rutgers redzone that Setser recovered, USF was flagged for holding on the first play of the drive that brought back a decent Grothe run.  we scored after that on a pass to Hester, which was also flagged.  then the blocked FG TD--- we were flagged for "illegal forward propulsion" or whatever, and on the subsequent first down play we were flagged for false start (i've watched the vid. about 15 times and saw no movement on the line).

i've always said it wasn't just the penalties that hurt us, but WHEN the penalties were called... it seemed that after every big play or turnover, a flag was thrown to put a damper on our players.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
