Atlantic High School safety Karnell Hatcher isn't sure where he wants to play college football, but he's already ruled out perennial heavyweights Florida and Florida State.

Hatcher's state school of choice? South Florida, a program in its 11th season.

They keep rising and rising every year," said Hatcher, a senior. "By next year, they could be playing for a championship - maybe even this year."The Bulls have risen to a No. 5 ranking this season by carefully selecting players for a system still run by their original coach, Jim Leavitt.

This year's boost into the national spotlight should allow them to make up even more ground in the recruiting wars with the Big Three - Florida, FSU and Miami.

"It's going to turn into the Big Four," said Jamie Newberg, recruiting analyst for scout.com. "It's already happened on the field. As far as recruiting goes, I think they're going to pull in a top kid or two before it's all said and done.

At UF, you go to a place that's stacked and already has two national championships behind them,'' said Miami-Monsignor Pace offensive lineman Greg Shaw, one of the top recruits in the nation and the younger brother of former UM linebacker Willie Williams. "Or you can go to USF and start something new and build your own tradition."

A lot of people wondered if Shaw's lack of early interest in Miami had to do with being the younger half-brother of former Hurricane Willie Williams, who left school before last season.

"No," he said. "Everyone's different. Just because that happened with Willie doesn't mean it happened to me.

Guys,

Recruiting is a tricky business to be sure, however lets try to refrain from making assumptions of an 17-18 year olds character just because his brother got into a lot of trouble.  These kids read these boards and don't need to hear that kind of stuff from us Bulls fans (let the other schools act that way)

I trust Leavitt and his staff more then the recruiting services anyways.  Lets let him decide who we want..ie Selvie

When I look at Shaw he looks like a kid and can really build up - that is scary since he is already 6'6" and 280.  We are getting some really big offensive lineman.
