He said no to Alabama’s job offer. He turned down Kansas State and an opportunity at returning to his Big 12 Conference roots. Coach Jim Leavitt wanted to stay put  at fledgling South Florida, of all places  because he said there was no limit to the program’s potential. Some people thought he was crazy.

Guess what?

Leavitt was right.

Leavitt will retire right here in Tampa Bay.  He has no desire to leave, always compliments the Bay area, and is a great, energetic, and skilled coach - leader.

The guy will retire with at least one national championship, a field and OCS named after him...and possibly a succesful string of barbecue joints around the Bay area....oops...sorry LeeRoy  ;D
