i think he'll be happy when we win the Big East.  in all reality, it's nice to be ranked and get recognition, but it means nothing unless you keep winning.

besides, we can't hang a ranking in our trophy case!

It's all about UNC for him this week and he's going to do anything he can to keep the players focused.  He's already said that he can't fully control how preoccupied the players are with the polls but he's going to do his best to keep them on track and game planning for UNC.  Practice hard....Finish strong!!

I would expect nothing different from Leavitt.

You guys have to remember, the real season hasn't started yet.  I would think the real goal for Leavitt this season is winning the BE title. In that respect, it may as well still be pre-season. Whether we are ranked 24th, 27th, or 82nd, it has no effect on the Big East, which is why ranking really doesn't matter.  We aren't playing for a NC (even if we go undefeated, will will likely be left out). If we win the BE, the ranking will be there, and Jim knows this, and is probably along the lines of what he is thinking.
