Why?  How about 'because its the right thing to do'.  If you don't reward a Ken Eriksen who bleeds Green & Gold, then you forfit your right to ever question another coach who leaves the Bulls for a better offer.

As an aside, are you positive Prado will never have the baseball program generating a positive cash flow?

Please list the D-1A Schools that have self-supporting baseball and softball programs.

What's the ultimate goal here: Winning, or saving/making a buck? If the ultimate goal is to create championship programs, and building a stadium for a deserving program retains a coach who will give us chances at championships while football can still survive and thrive at Ray Jay, then it would seem to me that's the route to take. If it's straight out football vs. baseball, then it's an easy decision to make, but if you can improve one's situation while the other still thrives, why not?

Question referenced baseball only.

LSU, Arkansas and Mississippi State all average about 7,000 in home game attendance with strong media outlets.  With baseball's limits on scholarships and limited travel costs in SEC, would you doubt these programs could turn a 'profit'?

The money has to come from somewhere and there are limits of how much the fan base will give.....football is the way many big schools support their other sport teams..realistically it is USF only sport that could possibly generate the kind of revenue it takes to support  other programs of the level you wish to compete at.  Nourish your cash cow first and she will feed the the rest of the herd.  Notre Dame did that and now their football revenue not only supports all the other sports but also feeds the general scholarship fund

True, but you mentioned Eriksen.

I haven't a clue about those programs, but if they do that's only three out of how many D1A schools?  Do you really think USF baseball could afford to build, staff, operate, and maintain a stadium on it's own and then help build a football stadium?  I don't.

In 2004, LSU was the only baseball program in the SEC to turn a profit, how much? 1.2 Million. How much did LSU football earn? 27 Million. How much did their basketball team earn? 3 Million (which is good for basketball they were a top 30 revenue producer that year)

There is a reason why baseball is grouped in as a "non-revenue" sport, because it doesn't earn any revenue. I'm not saying it never will at USF, but it will never ever pull enough revenue to support itself; we just don't have the fan support financially or in numbers.

Again, the inside slant is that we are committed until 2026 - full until further notice agreement.  That is the scoop!

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
