laker fans?  they actually exist?

i thought laker watchers were only celebs that had to be "laker fans" because it is the "in" thing to do.

I certainly didn't, but I've hated the Lakers ever since 1984 when I was wearing my "I Hate LA" T-shirt to 7th grade.

im not a laker fan but i wanted them to win....

between not being able to stand 'sheed and the pulling for the old guys that have played forever and never won (ie Andreychuk, Malone, etc) phenomenon the Lakers were my team for a week, but unfortunately they forgot to show up

I'm not sure I like comparing Malone to Andreychuk. Two completely different situations. Andy was helluvalot better "feel good" story.

they were both guys that had been in the league for over 20 yrs and both were considered better to some of the best players in their respective leagues.  Yes Andreychuk was more of a feel good story and I think Malone would have been just as good of story had he been with the Jazz still, but most bad mouthed him because he signed with the Lakers in pursuit of a championship.

Andreychuk:  Signed on to a team with 3 consecutive 50-loss seasons and helped turn the locker room around and lead them to the Stanley Cup in 3 years.

Malone:  Tried to glom on to the existing success of the Lakers and get a ring, since he couldn't win one with the Jazz.

Big difference.
