Good points, also need to develop 2-3 solid RB's.  Mike Ford plus at least one more (Planchar?)

This Spring season looms as one of the most important ever.

We MUST make strides this year into the top 25 and stay there.

That will be difficult. We must win all the games we are supposed to and must beat either UL or WV. Beating Auburn wouldn't hurt either.

What a difference a year makes.

Also, for those of you expecting Mike Ford to be the second coming, realize he's out of shape and hasnt played in a real game in a couple of years. It might take him some time to knock the rust off. At this point I would not expect him to be our opening night starter. (but that could change after spring)

We're not exactly deep at QB either.

BTW - that writer obvious went to an ACC school.

Here is some of my realistic expectations for 07:

On offense, Mike Ford will not be the second coming of Reggie Bush right away.  This is not some CC, it is Big East football now and these defenses are getting better every year.  We need patience and should expect Ponton and Plancher to carry the load at least for this season.  Also, Grothe will not be able to play every game, so it is up to Grant Gregory to solidify the no. 2.

On Defense, expect Mike Jenkins to rebound with a great season and Trae to fall off just a little bit.  I expect us to have one of the best cornerback tandems in the nation.  The LB's will not be as bad as you think.  Aside, from Moffitt being back, Tyrone McKenzie will be the become the best transfer player in USF history...better than Andre Hall.  He is a machine.  I have met him also, he's very nice will be a leader sooner rather than later.  On the other side, Sam Miller and Brouce Mompremier are really not as big of a drop off as people think.

Mike Ford doesn't have to be the second coming of Reggie Bush to be the best back ever at USF and to make a tremendous difference in how well our offense performs.

^exactly.  We just need a competent RB that can take heat off of Grothe.

Obviously, those BIG EAST bashing comments are now falling on deaf ears after the great season the conference had last year. Comments like those are just pretty funny kind of like people saying the SEC is a very weak conference.
