Funniest Line of the Night belonged to former USF player Chris Heinz (still in the minors after 10 years).

The panel was asked by a little kid, how long have you been playing baseball?  Posada said since he was a little baby, his parents put a ball and bat in his crib.  For Jeter, he said since he was a little kid about 4 or 5.  Heinz was last to speak, he said the same thing pretty much.  I think his exact words were, "I've been playing as long as Jorge and Derek, but I had different coaches!"

Great attitude by Chris.

Close second for funniest moment.  Tino was ribbing Jeter about his famous girlfriends.  Jeter was stone faced and didn't want to reveal too much, so finally Tino asked, "OK just tell us what comes to your mind when I say..........Mariah Carey?"  The whole place erupted, and you could tell Jeter was a bit embarassed, but he took it well.

Anyone else upset that they didn't have like Kazmir and Crawford there as guests?  Jeter and Posada play for the enemy.  >:(

Screw them!  >:(

I think it came down to Posada and Jeter being really good friends with Tino.  I guess they did this same type of thing when Lelo was at Louisville and they attended that as well.  He said next year the attendance will be up around 1000 people.

Thate was a great event...by far one of the best I've been to for USF.  I thought the Tampa chapter football and basketball functions were good...this was 10 times better.

The Q&A with the athletes was great.  Knowing Chris Heintz and playing ball with him at USF, I have to say that he is a class act and a great guy.  If anyone deserves to be in the USF hall of fame it's Chris.

Exbull:

Nomination forms for the USF Hall of Fame are available at www.gousfbulls.com.  We are always excepting nominations and our first class should be inducted next year.  That goes for anyone else.  Here's your chance to nominate your favorite student athlete, coach, or team.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
