Windbane & VElcro,

Please read everything I write. It just seems you are picking and choosing what you want to hear. I have stated several times that this IS a good year in terms of OUR history. Just not in the grand scheme/national picture. If you really think we did the best we COULD have done this year then let's just leave it at that.

If we were ranked 29th in the country to end the season with a very young team, may be ranked to start next season, and just had our best recruiting class, then how can you say it is not good in the "grand scheme/national picture"?  that's a little confusing considering the success we have already had and the needs that we just filled for our future teams and ridiculous depth at a few positions (such as RB).

Oh, and don't forget our coaching hirings where we seem to have former head coaches everywhere, and a former OC and Jets WR coach now coaching our WRs.  Just seems to me were are on the cusp of national recognition (that Rutgers received last year but as far as I know not before the season like we are now), and this class is the best we've had so far, with our best recruit (Mike Ford) already in class and getting ready for the spring game.

I'm sorry we didn't recruit more students from your HS but maybe we weren't their first choice considering the popularity of the other FL schools.  But we seem to do just fine with recruiting as shown by our past and our success last season (nearly beating rutgers, beating WVU, going 9-4, winning a bowl game 24-7).

All I can say with regard to grading this class is we have to wait and see how they perform on the field.  Our new coaching hires are A-1.  We have more 3 star recruits in this class and we will be even more on the radar of Florida athletes after this year.  Rome wasn't built in a day, and to be where we are right now is great.

All I can say is...........GO BULLS!!!!

Considering I've read this entire thread (as I usually do before I post something), please tell me how what I just posted indicates to you that I did not read everything you wrote.

S. Bien call BS all you want. I teach reading at Armwood High School and I coached JV football there while assisting Varsity. The kids you mention, like the Smith brothers (and several others), I have not only had the privelage of coaching but educating.

The only one talking out of their ass here is YOU!

I think now you're finally coming clean, and giving us the full jist of your relationship and story.  Leavitt's visited, one time, that you know of, and yet you don't really know one way or the other, and check with Cal to see....that's your criteria for criticizing Leavitt?

Rather pathetic if you ask me.  You're going to take your myopic position of talent and project a negative image on Leavitt because he supposedly 'only visited one time, that you know of'.

I commend you for educating and coaching the Smith brothers, Eric's going to be a top flight talent next year and that injury really curtained what could have been a magical season this year.  However, you should know that Torrey Davis made it perfectly clear early on that USF was not in the running.  Leavitt has to recruit the best talent available, and as the fall wore on that meant searching elsewhere and zeroing in on the kids that want to be Bulls.

You can bet this spring and summer Leavitt will be by Da Wood a ton to re-invigorate his relationship which from my understanding has been pretty good with Coach Callahan and crew.  I think your position, and tact, particularly being a person of knowledge on local talent and recruiting who would and should know this was a bit of a down year for talent, even Da Wood, is going to have a bigger year next year in terms of talent going 1-A, you would show some restraint when it comes to criticizing a HC.  Remember, they can also help your kids too....and a few of the assistant coaches do read the boards.

Point well taken. You seem to have a good bit of knowledge about what is going on around this county and I really can't see any reason to argue this point anymore. Like I posted previously I have no desire to talk about recruiting anymore. I just felt it appropriate to give up some of who I am because I'm NOT a coward behind a computer. I do stand by who I am and PROFESS my beliefs.

I am with ya, and I know you're not a coward and seem to be well connected at Da Wood.   And I commend you for your efforts I know the sacrifices assistant coaches make in Hills County.  I just think you could be a little fair to Leavitt, because you clearly know how the world works and HS HC's understand when college coaches don't visit as much in the fall.

We'll need to compare notes for next season...and you guys should have quite a lot of recruiting traffic coming through Seffner next year.  Me personally I like the upside of Sergio Joyner.  If the kid uses the off-season right he could be a top flight recruit come September!  What are your thoughts on P-tey Smith?  Could be the best Armwood recruit yet?

Good luck with the kids.

If you knew a little bit more about me you would understand why I am discouraged with our recruiting class.

I coach high school football in hillsborough county and I got to witness some pretty incredible athletes. There was a ton of talent just at my school, CJL personally visited 1 time that I know of. Guess who was there on more than one occasion, early in the season and after the season, in fact just a few weeks ago, you guessed it...Urban Meyer.

The thing is I really don't pay attention to stars on a SCOUT or RIVALS. I know first hand where the real stars/athletes are at. WE DID NOT RECRUIT THESE KIDS, WHY! You may be thinking, "well he is just bias" truth be told I AM BIAS. I want my USF Bulls to be the very best I know they can be and this year... they passed on, ignored or didn't even talk to some very, very talented kids.

This will be final word about recruiting. PS- don't ever compare me to smazza again, my thoughts are my own. I'm sure he is insulted as am I.

So by posting what you just posted you aren't looking for a response? I've made my points you have made yours...what do you want me to say, I really want you to sleep better tonight. ;)

Heh, ok.  So you make a comment in response to mine and then say "this is the last word and I don't want to talk about it anymore."  Well, I responded to it because I disagree with what you say.  If you don't want to respond that is fine.  I happen to think you are wrong about the significance of this class and I'm going to post my dissenting viewpoint.

I don't know if we did the best we "could" have done, but in my opinion we did the best we have ever done.  And, again, considering the success we've already had it seems to me that we're doing quite well.

That may have been YOUR final word about recruiting, but you can't say that and then claim I didn't read what you wrote just because I quote what you say and respond to it.  I understood the points that meant something.  I'm sorry I didn't acknowledge that because you wanted what you said to be the last word that what I said was not asking you to respond, merely stating my dissenting opinion.

S-bien...my thoughts on P-tey...WOW! I had this kid in my critical thinking skills class when he was a freshman. Out of five football players I had in that class he was the ONLY one to stand out & take on a "leadership" type roll. The others felt like they had a free pass. He kept them in line and he made sure they didn't fail my class. The thing that was amazing about this...I wasn't even a coach there yet.

He has an opportunity to become something special. This past year I got to watch him be a captain of a PROGRAM in only his sophmore year. It is incredible to watch this kids passion for football and the respect he has for his coaches and teachers.

Let's just hope he becomes a BULL! :)
