a win against Auburn would be earth shattering

That might be a bit overstated... it will be big, but remember USF has won a road game against a good Top 10 team already.  Auburn won't be any better than WVU was this year -- and I think USF will match up better.

The problem with the Auburn game will be USF's offense vs Auburn's defense.  If USF can find a running game (Mike Ford or the return of Plancher and Ponton or growth of Williams) then it becomes less of a stretch.

It's not something I will expect, but we can hope.

both of our top ten wins have been against Big East teams-- beating a top SEC team would be something that would seriously legitimize us to everyone-- including the Gators and the recruits of the state-- perhaps even the Tampa community

When we go to a bowl game next year, the host hotel will have hot water.

When the Orlando Bulls fans drive over for the UCF @ USF game, I am sure we will receive various hand gestures from other folks on I-4.

When we have a good recruiting class, season tickets sales will climb next year.

If we beat Auburn and UCF, the Orlando Sentinel will start providing adequate USF coverage.

Even better scenario: We go to Auburn and beat them.

Auburn comes to Gainesville and beats the Gators.

i really think we have a shot to beat them...Our team will be much more experienced than theirs, and to them we are supposed to be a warmup game...

We have been achieving a new milestone every year.  Last year we one our first game against a top ten opponent, this year we won a big game on the road aginst a top ten opponent.  Next year the Auburn win will get the SEC monkey off our back......... It's all about progression.
