Do you know of a hotel that has a parking lot near 5 points? We'll have about 10 in the RV, so we are planning on sleeping in a Hotel.
UABinBHM Posted December 2, 2006 Group: Member Topic Count: 3 Content Count: 73 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 11/25/2006 Share Posted December 2, 2006 The Tutwiler is quite a nice hotel. It's on the northside, though, as opposed to the southside (where 5 Points is). However, it's a fairly short drive from there to 5 Points. Most of the hotels downtown, as you've noted, have either street parking or parking in a deck... I believe this is how it is with the Tutwiler as well. The only place downtown that I can think of that might have room for an RV on the hotel grounds is the Medical Center Inn. It's near UAB and about 8-10 blocks from 5 Points. Not a fancy hotel really at all, but it's probably fairly cheap and it's just about 1 block off of I-65. Plenty of hotels outside the downtown area have surface lots plenty big enough for RVs, but few downtown. So it depends whether you care more about staying at a nice hotel or staying at a not-so-nice hotel where you could probably park your RV for free. The Redmont is a good hotel. Actually it's the oldest, still operational hotel in Birmingham with more than 75 years of running history. I believe it is either now or in the near future going to undergo some renovations. But the Redmont is a full service hotel offering breakfast, lunch and dinner in Grille 521. Also has the "Rare Olive" lounge in the lobby of the hotel. The Crowne Plaza Redmont also features a fitness center and full-service business center.
