No. Miami had star power too, and they could not fill it up. Wash St really had attendence issues when they played in the Rose Bowl also. I think WVU fans would travel well for that game. They did well for the Sugar Bowl even though it was not too far to travel. I am impressed at how well Rutgers travelled to the bowl game out in Phoenix AZ. That was pretty **** good.

Miami was conf champs playing for national titles..etc

from what i recall the GA dome was like 90% uga and 10% wvu

i remember when um lost to osu in the title game it was like 90% osu and 10% um

miami always did and always will have poor fan support...but you are correct in that for them it does not matter because they have a name and bowls like to have them....kind of an anomaly

Bowl sponsors don't care about ticket sales -- they care about eyeballs on TV... and Miami still draws people to watch - to root for or against them.

According to CBS's Dennis Dodd, Rose Bowl officials are looking at LSU or Oklahoma to take the possible Rose Bowl spot.

Hard to believe a 2-loss Oklahoma or a 2-loss LSU would be selected over a 1-loss team.... What a shame.

Oh well... at least the tickets for the PapaJohn's.com Bowl are only $30!!

I guess they are assuming Arkansas is going to lose not only this week to LSU, but to UF in the SECCG game.  That is pretty bold.  I think Arkansas wins at least one of those.

Hey RockyTop, did LSU impress you against Ole Miss yesterday?  ;)  j/k

Good luck against the kitties this week, don't ever let that streak die.

I don't know if you followed it, but they gave up 40 points to LA-Monroe(2-7) yesterday in a barnburner.  42-40.  They had to stuff a 2-pt conversion with a minute left.

I dunno how good he is though the guy is a jackhole.

That being said

1998: 1 loss K-State and Arizona were left out for 2 loss UF

1999: 1 loss K-State left out for 2 loss Michigan and Tennessee

2000: 1 loss Va Tech left out for 2 loss ND (ND provision)

It's happened before.

I have a theory though, any chance that the Sooners to the Rose Bowl COULD be a favor from the Pac 10 for the Oregon game? If that blatently bad call wasn't made Oklahoma would be in the title race. Who knows.

It all changes if Boise loses, you NEED to be a Wolfpack fan this Saturday!

somewhat, actually.  they played like crap most of the game, but pulled it together enough in the end to win the game

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
