Hey Bull fans, do you think there is a chance that we can get to the New Orleans Bowl this season??? I know that the bowl is tied in with the C-USA and Sun Belt, but I am hearing that the C-USA may not have enough bowl eligible teams to fulfill it. Anyway, I would love to have USF get that invite because it sure would be a nice party for all of us.

Based on my own personal analysis, I believe C-USA will have MORE than enough teams for it's slots.  If you are hearing otherwise, I would like to know/see your sources ... I could be wrong, but from the current standings and the remaining schedule, I don't see it.

From the Bowl Analysis -- Detailed by Conference Thread...

Conference USA - 5 Slots - 5 Teams Projected to be Eligible

Bowl Eligible: Tulsa, Houston

Need 1 Win:

    Southern Methodist (Houston, Tulsa, @ Rice)

    East Carolina (Marshall, @ Rice, @ NC State)

Need 2 Wins:

    Southern Mississippi (@ Memphis, Tulane, UAB, Marshall)

    UTEP (@ UAB, @ Marshall, Memphis)

    Rice (@ Tulsa, ECU, SMU)

    Marshall (@ ECU, UTEP, So Miss)

Need 3 Wins:

    Alabama-Birmingham (UTEP, So Miss, @ UCF)

    Tulane (So Miss, UCF, @ Tulsa)

Bowl Ineligible: Memphis, UCF

Need 1 Loss:

    Alabama-Birmingham (UTEP, So Miss, @ UCF)

    Tulane (So Miss, UCF, @ Tulsa)

Need 2 Losses:

    Marshall (@ ECU, UTEP, So Miss)

    Rice (@ Tulsa, ECU, SMU)

    UTEP (@ UAB, @ Marshall, Memphis)

Jim's Projections:

Liberty - Houston

GMAC - Tulsa

Birmingham - East Carolina

Armed Forces - UTEP

New Orleans -  Sothern Mississippi

No Bowl - Southern Methodist

Tulsa and Houston are already eligible.  SMU & ECU need to win one of their remaining three games.  Southern Miss (who plays tonight) needs to win two more games.  UTEP, Marshall, and Rice also only need two more wins.

I believe six teams will get to six wins.

It would be very nice. I will take any bowl game, but a New Orleans bowl would be perfect this year. If I had to bet money it is going to be the BHam Bowl.

let me open up a HUGE can of worms here...

id like to see the Big East add enough teams (4 or so)

to get a conference championship game and 2 more bowl games......

no need to play every conference team every year.

but its sad that those teams get bowl games and USF could beat them

Again, the problem being there are 16 schools already. We need Villanova and Georgetown.

i like playing all of the teams in your conference every year.  Wisconsin has one of the lowest SOS so far out of big ten teams and they wont play OSU or Michigan this year.  that's ridiculous.

Again, the problem being there are 16 schools already. We need Villanova and Georgetown.

ah yes, that reason as well.  basketball has 16 teams and is the largest conference already.  enough is enough.
