INJURY UPDATE: Linebacker Stephen Nicholas won't be sidelined by the shoulder injury that briefly took him out of Friday's game. Leavitt said center Nick Capogna, who missed much of Friday's game after wearing a cast on his left forearm last week, would be ready this week.

CLEBERT DONE: Defensive tackle Richard Clebert, one of the Bulls' most experienced defensive linemen, will miss the rest of the season with a torn groin muscle, Leavitt said. Clebert should be eligible for a medical redshirt.

- GREG AUMAN, Times staff writer

Well, that would be great for Clebert to atleast get another year.

Missing Capogna lead direclty to points for Rutgers.

Consider that on the play Grothe was flagged (late) for intentional grounding, it started with a snap that was rolled back to him.  By the time he was able to pick it up, the defense was on him - so he tried to get rid of it.  Got the flag.  That was on first down.

USF was forced to punt (three and out) - and Rutgers got the ball at the USF 44 yard line.

On the ensuing Rutgers drive, they barely moved the ball -- but kicked their 53-yard field goal that became the deciding factor.

Had that bad snap not happened, USF might have been able to move the ball a bit more -- and at the very least caused Rutgers to start their drive further back.

No one can say for sure that without that single bad snap USF would have won, but it was certainly a major factor.

JimUSF -- Leavitt actually spoke to that last night without saying anything too specific. Said in hindsight they should have played Capogna more. Said Schmidt has to play better, said the whole offensive line has to play better ...

By chance Clebert doesn't get a medical redshirt, I don't think he ever used his regular redshirt year.

Clebert played in the first two games. You can't take a redshirt once you've played in a season, unless you have an injury to warrant a medical redshirt ...

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
