Week 2

1) USF's Game

Sat 09/09 - Florida International @ USF - 7:00pm [ESPN 360]

2) Games involving one or more schools on USF's 2006 schedule.

Obviously we should follow these games.

Fri 09/08 - Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati - 8:00pm [ESPN2]

Sat 09/09 - #13 Louisville @ Temple - 12:00pm [ESPN Gameplan]

Sat 09/09 - #17 Virginia Tech @ North Carolina - 12:00pm [ESPN]

Sat 09/09 - Illinois @ Rutgers - 12:00pm [ESPN2]

Sat 09/09 - Eastern Michigan @ #6 West Virginia - 1:00pm

Sat 09/09 - #16 Iowa @ Syracuse - 3:30pm [ABC]

Sat 09/09 - UCF @ Florida - 6:00pm [ESPN Gameplan]

Sat 09/09 - Louisiana-Monroe @ Kansas - 7:00pm

Sat 09/09 - West Virginia Tech @ McNeese State - 8:00pm

Idle: Connecticut

3) Games involving Notre Dame and Navy, because of their ties to Big East bowl games.

We want Notre Dame to do very well and Navy to not be bowl eligible, to ensure more open slots for Big East teams.

Sat 09/09 - Massachusetts @ Navy - 1:30pm [CSTV]

Sat 09/09 - # 19 Penn State @ #4 Notre Dame - 3:30pm [NBC]

4) Games involving teams two ranked teams and at least one of the teams is ranked higher than highest Big East team, and possible higher than the 2nd highest Big East team.

If the highest and 2nd highest teams can move up and up the polls, then there is at least a chance that 2 Big East teams could make the 10 BCS slots.  Big East ranks: #6 West Virginia; #13 Louisville.

Sat 09/09 - #1 Ohio State @ #2 Texas - 8:00pm [ABC]

5) Games involving a Top 15 non-BCS team, or a non-BCS team ranked higher than any BCS conference's highest ranked team.

If no teams from the non-BCS conferences make the BCS, then that would mean 4 at-large slots in the 5 BCS bowls.  This increases the chances for 2 Big East teams to be selected.

NONE -- Highest ranked non-BCS team is #23 TCU; Lowest rank of a conference-leading team is #9 Florida State (ACC).

6) Other games of interest.

None This Week

I really like this break down.  Please keep 'em coming.

You're welcome, ET...

I do this more for me than anyone else... but it helps to know what games to watch now, instead of just at the end of the season when more attention is paid to bowl eligibility.

Rutgers going out and playing 2 BCS non-cons to get the season started. Let's hope they're ranked when we play so we can get a top 25 win  :)

ya gotta go with Texas-Ohio State.  Talk about some quality football!  not to mention, Colt McCoy is easy on the eyes.  :-*

I'm not sure when it will be on, but I'll make sure to TiVO it if it conflicts with my bullies

Keep an eye on Pitt.  I am only hoping that VA game was a fluke...

Cincinnati is not that good of a team, so Pitt should win this week and be 2-0.

In fact, they could be undefeated and in the Top 25 coming in to USF:

09/02 vs Virginia W

09/08 @ Cincinnati

09/16 vs Michigan St

09/23 vs The Citadel

09/30 vs Toledo

10/07 @ Syracuse

10/13 @ UCF

10/21 vs Rutgers

11/04 @ South Florida

11/11 @ UConn

11/16 vs West Virginia

11/25 vs Louisville

This could be an exciting season... undefeated Rutgers comes to Tampa ... undefeated Pittsburgh comes to Tampa... both go home losers -- that could push USF well into the Top 25.
