Conference USA

New Army coach Bobby Ross was looking for improved red-zone play on both sides of the ball this spring as the team tries to bounce back from an 0-13 season. "It's got to get better. I think that's the key," Ross said.

East Carolina coach John Thompson is looking forward to the impact new offensive coordinator Noah Brindise has on the Pirates. The former Florida QB and Washington Redskins assistant joined the staff for the spring. "Our offense is very difficult to defend. You will see a lot of different looks offensively with a lot of different formations, getting the ball to a lot of different people," said Thompson, whose team scored fewer than 20 points seven times last year.

Houston scored more than 40 points seven times last year and the offensive fireworks were back in play in the spring game, as the Cougars piled up 549 total yards. Redshirt freshman running back Anthony Alridge led all rushers with 99 yards on just five carries.

Senior QB Stefan LeFors threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns in Louisville's spring game played in front of 12,200, the largest spring game crowd in the history of Cardinals football. Lefors completed 30-of-39 passes, including 22-of-28 for 325 yards in the first half.

Star Memphis RB DeAngelo Williams, who missed the New Orleans Bowl with a knee injury, showed few ill effects in the spring. He gained 45 yards on seven carries in the spring game and also had a 33-yard touchdown reception.

Former Duke head coach Carl Franks has signed on as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at South Florida.

Senior LB Dillon Cleckler led had an impressive spring game for defending C-USA champion Southern Mississippi, finishing with 13 tackles and a sack.

The defense looked well ahead of the offense in TCU's spring game, giving up just 201 total yards on 79 plays and forcing five turnovers, including the only score of the day, a 47-yard interception return by LB Zach Zimmerman with a minute to play,

Tulane is in the unusual position of having 19 starters returning, but needing to replace star QB J.P. Losman and RB Mewelde Moore, the school and conference all-time rushing leader. Coach Chris Scelfo is not expected to name a starting QB until the fall. Sophomore Nick Cannon, who served as Losman's backup, sophomore transfer Lester Ricard and freshman Richard Irvin have all impressed at times, but only Cannon has seen game action.

Maybe they should of talked about the outstanding offensive output at our spring game, or maybe our awesome crowd.  Both were exceptionally putrid.
