McCarver Commits To USF Softball

TAMPA - Port Orange Spruce Creek senior outfielder Kelly McCarver verbally committed to play for the University of South Florida in the 2007-08 season.

A four-year starter, McCarver hit .427 with 31 steals and 32 runs for Spruce Creek’s Class 6A state runners-up last season. She also considered Florida, Tennessee, Alabama and Memphis.

“To be honest the final deciding factor was [uSF] Coach [Ken] Eriksen,†said McCarver, an honorable mention all-state selection. “He’s one of the great guys I’ve met. I heard nothing but great things about USF softball, the school’s academics and campus. Also it was close enough to home, but far enough away.â€Â
