It wasn't a bookie, it was card games and slot machines.  The slot machines were confiscated and auctioned off to pay the fines levied on the person.

there you are. always there, ready to take off your hood and and defend something that is obviously racial.

a high stakes card game? are you out of your mind? You don't think fuller was targeted ?  If not for his color, than for what? becaause he is a old athlete?

you are not stupid so i will assume you are naive.

IN miami, there are high stakes card games every mile.

crap? if it was you getting arresting for playing cards you wouldn't think it is crap.

don't you want your cops patrolling streets looking for bad guys that try to take your property or try to physically hurt you.

why does it bother you when I point out racially motivated conduct?

Are you running for the position of grand dragon or something?

I won't comment on your obvious attempts to color me as a racist.  If you've read some of my other posts you'll know that's not the case.

I've never played a game of poker where there were "thousands of dollars" in the pot.  Whether you like it or not, it is illegal.  I'm not sure how the police got their info on the game, but appartently, it was accurate.  By your own admission, raiding card games doesn't happen often.  If it were racially motivated, don't you think you'd hear about more card games, hosted by blacks, being raided.

And by the way, I think the fact that gambling is illegal is ridiculous.  That doesn't change the fact that it is.

IF there was shooting and guns involved as KR mentioned, then duh, i wonder why it was broken up!  Should let them shoot random bullets around the neighborhood instead so as not to be racist.

Race card = crying wolf, at least lately. Its the defense dujour.

I just found the story I had read and the shootout had happened in January.  My Bad.

This is probably how they found out about the games though.

Ravens' Corey Fuller Charged With Hosting High-Stakes Card Game

By Erik Matuszewski

April 21 (Bloomberg) -- Baltimore Ravens cornerback Corey

Fuller was charged with hosting high-stakes card games at his

house in Tallahassee, Florida.

Fuller was among seven people arrested last night after law

enforcement officers broke up a card game and seized thousands of

dollars that were on a playing table, said Linda Butler, a

spokeswoman for the Leon County Sheriff's Department. Florida law

allows card players to gamble a maximum of $10 a hand.

Fuller, a nine-year National Football League veteran, was

released on $5,000 bail. He was charged with operating a gambling

house, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison

and a $5,000 fine.

``We're aware of the situation and we have spoken with

Corey,'' Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome said in a

statement. ``He did tell us that he plays card games at his home

with friends and relatives. There is a due process and we believe

in that. There are two sides to every story.''

Police also are investigating whether a shootout at Fuller's

home in January was related to the card games.

Fuller, who played college football at Florida State in

Tallahassee, told police he exchanged about 20 shots with an

intruder outside his home. There were no injuries and no arrests

were made.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
