Release: 05/31/2006

TAMPA, Fla. (May 31, 2006) – University of South Florida women’s tennis head coach Agustin Moreno announced the signing of Ana Paula De La Pena, Ann-Marie Modric and transfer Shadisha Robinson to letters of intent for the 2006-07 school year.

Robinson, a transfer from the University of Georgia will join the team as a senior with plenty of collegiate experience. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has ranked Robinson as high at No. 1 in the country in doubles and No. 4 in singles competition. She is a two-time doubles All-America selection with two different partners (Caroline Basu and Agata Cioroch) and earned singles All-America honors for her 23-2 dual match record in the 2005-06 season.

De La Pena comes to USF as a top-ranked junior in Mexico. In 2005 she was ranked No. 18 COTECC G18.

In 2006, she reached the round of 32 at the San Luis Potosi Qualifying Draw and she reached the quarterfinals of the same tournament in 2002.

Modric joins USF from Sweden where she made it past the round of 16 in the 2005 Falkenberg Qualifying Draw in singles and lost in the quarterfinals in doubles of the same tournament

Do transfers in women's tennis have to sit out a year?

We could have one heck of a team next year if Robinson is eligible.

Only transfers in Basketball and football have to sit out, she is on campus and inrolled at school and will be in the line-up next year.
