WVU recruiting of Lakeland and Belle Glade

It appears that we have under recruited Polk County.  As a Polk County resident, I believe some of the best football in the state is right here.  Look at the history of state champs and finalists from Polk.

In the last few years....Lakeland (2 championships and perennial contender), Lake Gibson (2 runner up), Ft. Meade (numerous trips to the finals).  Yet, we have just a sprinkling of Polk kids on the roster.  

Some of USF's Polk standouts...Chad Barnhardt, Vince Brewer, Tim Jones.  The talent is here for a lot more.

I think we are recruiting them from what I hear, but just haven't got that many ... but it is a big state and we are getting our share.

And remember way back   ... LB Jason Butler from Bartow also.

USF has done a poor job overall when it comes to recruituing kids in Polk County.  Many on the Lakeland HS football team that won the State and National championship have not even received a sniff from the USF coaching staff, for example the QB for the team is going to Northern Illinois in the MAC.

we got Grothe out of Polk...i think that's a big step in the right direction.
