I think Tino would be a great fit.  Seems like he still loves the game, any former player or coach who is an analyst on the halfway house of espn is doing it for a reason, they want to coach.

Is there really interest from both sides or is it wishful thinking?  I would play baseball from tino martniez all day.

How about we get someone who has actually coached at some level in here. Are there any players that have gone straight to head coach at any level and been successful?

Believe me, this will hardly be a search.  USF's fax machines will run out of paper with candidates.  The difficult job will be weeding out the less desirable and getting to a short list of applicants.  This job has been a very desirable job for years...There will be no shortage of qualified candidates.

Give it to U-Tampa coach if he wants it, will come "cheap" and has $$ ties.

There's always Ron Cardieri, who served as an assistant under Eddie in the late 80s/early90s.   ;D

I'd like to see someone with Major League experience. Wade Boggs would be good - definitely a hitters coach. He would also bring some excitement to the team and attention.

Another college coach - unknown to the casual fan - may not help draw more fans and donors to the team.

Just my two cents.

Coach Boggs has a nice ring to it!!

Big supporter of the U Tampa coach.  Guy always wins.

My only prob that I can think of -- is that USF doesn't pay any of its coaches diddly..

So might be tough to get a top quality coach.

maybe the UT guy willl come.
