yeah i read it, i'm a scout subscriber, i give him credit for admitting the recruiting mistakes that he made, but he basically concedes he can't recruit hs players to usf so he has to build the program using transfers and jucos (a very bad idea) and then he goes on to defend this practice. this adds more fuel to the fire that usf needs a name guy to recruit, we need someone who can sell the program and vision and get this program to be worth watching again. it would be hard pressed to get a recruit to come here in its present condition, we need someone who can bring credibility to this program.

that's not what he said at all...he said they got caught with the wrong players for the big east because it was so late in the recruiting cycle when they found out...and couldnt start over at that point. He also said there's a trade off between HS players and JUCOs. That JUCOs can get you over the hump quicker, but ideally you'd like all HS players.

Only prob here is a quick attempt to a fix. No building blocks for the future with juco's. You have to have recruits. Go to the midwest on the coldest freakin day of the year and tell them about USF, the weather, etc. You'll get some cold and freezin inner city kid or some Illinois farm kid just tired enough with the cold and snow. AND why not go to the west coast. Not all good players go to Gonzaga or UNLV or "The Naner slugs"! In order to be successful. you need to work successful. Do not take the easy way out.
