here's the universal theory:  USF recruiting sucks because USF coaching sucks.. and USF coaching sucks because the talent isnt there (recruiting sucks).... its a chicken-and-egg paradox-- but SOMEONE needs to break through for us.

everyone on here is whining about leavitt not developing a QB, and others are complaining that the QB situation is becase we havent had talent... well, if everything goes according to plan, our QBs from here on out will SUCK as long as leavitt is the man.. but everyone once in a while, u'll get a QB (e.g.- marquel blackwell) that doesnt need much coaching and relies on God-given instinct..

let's hope that Carlton Hill is the marquel blackwell of our BCS days..  from the looks of it, leavitt will oscilate between julmiste and any other quarterback, because PJ is his boy and all, and if grothe or gregory were really that impressive, leavitt wouldve played them like he did hill this past year... CARLTON, if you are reading this, you shouldn't be.. you should be studying game film and/ore working on passing drills

As far as QB goes, Leavitt's only real role is in his decision on who is QB coach and/or OC.  Marquel was far from a college QB his first two years, but he had Coach Mike Canales who has proven to be one of the best young coordinators out there.  Coach Cananles knew how to coach QBs and did a great job with Marquel.  Coach Smith has not shown the ability to do that, thus the poor QB play the last few years.  Although this is purely speculation, but if Coach Canales had been coaching PJ or any other guy we've had the last two years, they would have been much more successful, not great, maybe not even good, but PJ wouldn't have been the worst QB in Division IA and IAA football.

I'm a fan of any player that can take us to the next level.  CaHill didn't show me anything positive in his field performance last season, but he did show negatives that question his capability at even the most fundamental level.

... actually, everyone needs to work their tails off and they wouldn´t be on the team if they didn´t.

Hoping for success at the QB position and gotsta BULLieve we will.

C-Hill was a freshman who was played sparingly and thrown into a bad situation the bowl game. NC State was dominating and he was pressured. He'll improve, and if he doesn't he could be a hell of a WR/TE

My feeling is that if the team improves the need for a great QB will decrease. Better blocking better WR's who can get YAC and hold onto the ball and a better D and a great QB will not be that important. I may just be wrong but under Blackwell the WR's seemed more consistent and would catch anything thrown at them. The Pitt game and the hurry up offense was awesome and would love to see that come back no matter who is QB, USF came out in that game and just wore Pitt out. With that offense and the D the bulls have now the sky is the limit.

It doesn't matter what the situation of the game was, he can't keep the ball off the ground.  A basic fundamental of football is to NOT FUMBLE THE BALL.

^^^^ you are starting to sound like smazza repeating the same thing over and over.

there have been players in the past that were labeled fumblers...alstott and thomas jones are 2 that come to mind. They over came it...give the 18 yr old true freshman a chance. If it continues make a change but at this point we need his talent on the field.
