Unlike the football team, whose first season in the Big East Conference ended in a first-ever bowl game, the University of South Florida men's basketball team is having a nightmarish season.

Entering tonight's home game against Seton Hall, the Bulls are 0-8 in the brutally tough conference and 6-15 overall. They haven't won a game since just before Christmas. They have lost 10 in a row, two shy of the school record set 26 years ago.

And they have had so many injuries that only seven players have played most of the season. It's not uncommon for one or two players to play the full 40 minutes - a rarity in major-college basketball.

Even with this adversity and bad luck, the Bulls deserve some love because they are a gutsy, competitive team. The current 10-game skid includes five losses by six points or less. They have made some of the league's best teams, including ninth-ranked West Virginia and 15th-ranked Georgetown, sweat until the final buzzer, losing by four and three points, respectively.

Let's rally around the Bulls and root for their first conference victory tonight.

Another rah-rah speech... you don't see them dogging the Great Seth Greenberg anymore... that boy could win some games (at least one conference game!)
