BOWL RATINGS

Wednesday's Rose Bowl earned a 21.7 rating, up 59 percent from last year's title game, a 13.7 for USC-Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. The game earned the highest rating for a college football game since 1987 (Fiesta Bowl, Penn State-Miami, 25.1).

Among the metered markets, Austin led the way with a 47.7 rating, followed by a 35.4 in Houston, a 34.8 in Los Angeles and a 34.5 in Dallas. Locally, the game earned a 15.6 rating.

Here are the local Nielsen ratings for the 28 college football bowl games. One ratings point equals 17,104 households.

These are the Tampa ratings. Nationally the WVU game was 4th most watched. We were 16th.
