That article is actually from before the portal was installed in the fall of 2018. I think what the deal with a coach being fired is that the players can immediately hit the portal rather than wait for the window to open. I think, though, they have to follow the eligibility rules like other transferees. One free transfer, no sitting, and on the second one, they have some stringent waiver rules to follow to be eligible immediately ......
