We got bodied by McNeese State (also a ranked FCS team) in 2013 and a couple weeks later by FAU. CWT still got time to do his thing and it ended up paying off. Woolard kept his job even after the disastrous decision to extend CSH. You can make an argument for firing VPMK for the CJS hire or the extension of multiple failing coaches. You can’t do the same because of a HC who is in Game 2. That’s pushing the sins of CJS onto the next HC and not fair at all. He’s doing the best he can with a new team and system. Even the GCO took four games to start motoring and that was with freak show athletes at the skill positions.

Not blaming CAG whatsoever. He is a victim of circumstances.

If we lost to FAMU that's on CAG

He's not getting fired because we lose to FAU.  OR even FAMU in and of itself but if we lose to FAMU at home we may not win a game this year and thus he should be gone along with CAG and start over

Fair enough, but if we lose to FAMU/FAU why carry out the rest of the season? If we all know what's going to happen, part ways immediately.

I respectfully disagree. There's only one constant within the equation of our epic slump.

I'm trying not to derail the thread, however, I know you're a well-respected voice and value your opinion. If we lose to FAMU or FAU, do you think MK should retain his position?

Yes.

Our "epic" slump started when The Jim was fired and if CAG can't coach us up to beat an ok FCS team then it's on him.  The "slump" is irrelevant.  MK can hit the road for all I care, but he isn't coaching the team

We lost to McNeese State and FAU in 2013 and we all knew what ended up happening ....... maybe it will be a good omen to lose those 2 Florida games.

Actually, a slump started a year after CJL was fired, 2011, and ended in 2015. Another slump started in 2019 and is on going ...

Had he kept CJS on and we lost to them in Year 4, then yes. But now we have to let CAG cook and see how it works out.

The only reason I feel it is a factor in his employment is because MK passed up on both Larry Scott and Tom Herman. There are positives to Michael Kelly but,  hiring for the sports that matter isn't one of them, until we're proven wrong.

If MK can't hire someone to go .500 in our soft schedule, then that's on him.
