Actually MOST leagues share it equally thats why UM bailed for ACC supposedly. The ACC shares equally or so i read in our paper in miami

No Most leagues take a chunk of money from the bowls and divy it up between the teams that made bowl games, then they take the remainder of the money and divy between the non bowl teams. The reason Miami left was because the BE used to divy the money equally, Miami was upset because they were always going to bowl games, and Temple and Rutgers, etc never went yet got funding from it. There is a link on teh SEC site explaining their rules.

Long story short, we're getting more money than Syracuse.

Velcro, not after this year (thank God), starting next year they get the average of the conference payout to the BCS teams which was around 4.9 last year.

Not true, the Big East started giving more to the BCS rep in order to keep Miami happy in the Big East. Trust me this was rehashed in the Miami media over and over again. The ACC divides their money evenly, But due to their basketball and championship game UM calculated that it would gain yearly the same or more than being the BCS rep in the BE.

Bringing ACC's bowl picture into focus

N.C. State fan Patrick Faulkner admits the Wolfpack's 2-4 start to the season left a "little bit" of a lingering sour taste. But that's not enough to make the 1995 State graduate pass up the Wolfpack's trip to Charlotte for the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

Faulkner was among the State fans who purchased more than 4,000 tickets for the Dec. 31 game through NCSU's ticket office on Monday.

North Carolina sold more than 30,000 tickets last year for the Tar Heels' trip to what was then known as the Continental Tire Bowl, and State officials are hoping that the Wolfpack fan base can at least match that.

Anticipating heavy demand for tickets to the game, State already has asked bowl officials for 2,000 more club-level tickets and 1,000 more lower-level tickets on top of the 12,500 tickets State is required to sell.

Faulkner, who has had season tickets for a decade, said he would have traveled as far as Nashville, Tenn., site of the Music City Bowl, to watch State play this holiday season. Having the Wolfpack stay close to home made the decision to buy three lower-level tickets that much easier, even if he knows little about South Florida, State's Big East opponent.

"Who we play in a bowl game never matters," said Faulkner, a 36-year-old mechanical engineer in Morehead City.

Not every State fan is eager to travel to Charlotte, however. Marty Swartz, 61, said you will find him instead in the RBC Center on Dec. 31, watching State's basketball team play George Washington.

"I for one don't think 6-5 deserves a bowl," Swartz, a 1972 State graduate, said of State's regular-season football record. "There are too many bowl games, and I don't think 6-5 ever deserves a bowl bid."

MEINEKE CAR CARE BOWL INFORMATION

N.C. State's ticket office is encouraging fans to purchase tickets online at gopack.com because of high-call volumes on their phone lines.

If you prefer calling and are prepared to wait on hold, however, the ticket office numbers are (919) 865-1510 and (800) 310-7225.

Upper-level seats are available for $30. Lower-level seats ($55) and club-level seats ($75) are available for Wolfpack Club members, while State students and State faculty members can purchase upper-level seats at a discount.

Because of the holiday mailing crunch, all tickets will be distributed by will-call pickup in Raleigh and Charlotte. Specifics have not been released yet.

THAT'S BC AS IN 'BOISE'S COOL'

Boston College (8-3) has a better overall record than Clemson (7-4) and N.C. State (6-5). The Eagles also have a better conference record and head-to-head wins over both teams.

Yet Clemson is going bowling in Orlando, Fla., and State in Charlotte while Boston College, the ACC newcomer, treks to Boise, Idaho, for the MPC Computers Bowl.

BC coach Tom O'Brien, who has won six straight bowl games, put a positive spin on the Eagles' bowl fate, telling the Boston Globe: "There is no bad bowl game."

Even the Eagles' biggest fan, Greg Barber, who donated $2.5 million to endow the head coaching position, is OK with Christmas in Idaho. Barber, who lives in East Greenwich, R.I., went to all of the Eagles' ACC road games this season except the Virginia Tech game.

He said he's going to Boise and doesn't think the Eagles got a raw deal.

"From my point of view, it doesn't take anything away from our great season," Barber said. "There's no need for finger pointing. We're still delighted to be in the ACC."

MONEY MATTERS

When Notre Dame scored with 55 seconds left to beat Stanford and finish the season in the top eight of the BCS, it meant at least a $14 million payout for the Irish. When Virginia Tech lost to Florida State, it cost the Hokies the ACC title but not financially.

ACC teams split their bowl revenues, and expenses, so Florida State, the league's BCS representative, and Duke, 0-8 in the ACC, will make the same amount this bowl season. Oh, and don't feel bad for FSU -- in March, when Duke goes to the NCAA Tournament, it has to split the basketball money with the Seminoles.
