I must admit, I was a Zip from 95-99!   :o

Yes, Zonald was a Zip!  I was at every home football game in 95 and 96.  THEY SUCKED big time back then.  Horrible, horrible team.  The Rubber Bowl is OFF CAMPUS by about 20 miles and FREEZING cold in the winter.

Good to see they are FINALLY doing something positive.  What a difference a coach makes.

I didn't see the game, but they have had some good QB's recently.

That's ok Zonald, BULLheaded was a Kent State Golden Flashes way back in 87. Of course that was one of the few good times when Glen Mason was coach lol.

suuuuuuuuure haven't had trouble switching teams though!

What is a ZIP?

I was wondering the same thing.  I thought it was some term for a kangaroo (since that's their mascot and what's on their helmet).  But I found this:

OK Zonald, What is a ZIP?   ???

I thought their mascot was a kangaroo or a lightning bolt - maybe a combo of the two.

Akron's QB is awesome! They can get a QB, but we can't seem to find one here in Florida?! wtf...

With the proper COACHING any one of our current QBs would be just as good if not better.

zip is in reference to Zippy the kangaroo.

The zips QB was a PITT transfer.

La. Tech's upset likely knocked off Oregon from the BCS.  Only two of three upsets (UConn, UCLA, Colorado) would prevent the Bulls from bowling.

No wonder he's so good.  It would be fun to see both of my old schools play against each other.

Guess you missed this part.

Through a student contest held in 1925, sports teams at The University of Akron were nicknames Zippers, after a popular overshoe manufactured by the BFGoodrich Company in Akron. The nickname was officially shortened to the Zips in 1950.

Zippy came after the Zips.

BTW, I had a friend when I was at Akron that was the mascot for football and bball.  Pretty cool.

I get asked WTF a zip is all the time.

Now you know.
