I am aware. But he hasn't been in a competitive basketball game in almost two years. Noone knows if he is the same walking double double type of player. Instead of improving he has been rehabbing. 1st team preseason means you are RIGHT now one of the best 5 players in the league. We do not know that he is yet.

This is a bad projection. I don't even know who the players in this league are. I don't care either.

I get all that and I get what you are saying.  First team preseason teams are all projections and are opinions.  That's it.  Noone knows how any of these guys are going to perform and the only thing that someone can go on RIGHT now is what they think they are going to do.

I get that you want to take a wait and see approach to how far along he is upon his return, but I don't get why as fans we don't want to celebrate the recognition and hope that he is in the position to be a top 5 player in the league

Projection or not, Jayden Gardner is a safe bet. Good player on a bad team will always fill the stat sheet.
