Best of luck Kevin Merrell could be on the move Merrell finds his way on a list of trade chips for the A's Whom might they trade? The list is short. The A's don't have any big contracts to unload, and they aren't so keen on plucking from a newly refurbished farm system. That being said, a handful of players included among MLB Pipeline's list of Top 30 A's prospects could potentially be had in the right deal, including infielders Kevin Merrell and Sheldon Neuse, and outfielders Tyler Ramirez and Skye Bolt. https://www.mlb.com/athletics/news/athletics-could-be-active-at-winter-meetings/c-301586698 David Villar could be a fast mover Third baseman -- David Villar, Salem-Keizer (56 games), AZL Giants Black (six games): One of the two Northwest League players who finished above McPherson in extra-base hits was Villar, who led the circuit with 35 extra-base hits (22 doubles, 13 home runs). He ranked third with a .549 slugging percentage behind only fellow 2018 draftee Bart and Spokane's Curtis Terry after an impressive college career at South Florida. "He was a guy we were surprised dropped to us in the 11th round," Haines said. "He came out and kept hitting and has plus defensive ability at third base. He has power and a right-center-field approach, which fits in his profile really well. Good glove at third, good throwing arm and put together a really good year and really caught our eye. He's probably going to be a fast mover for us." Shane McClanahan is close to being a top 100 Prospect 11. Do not sleep on the Rays, in general. Most of this was covered in the MiLBY feature for Top Farm System, but some of it is worth reiterating. Tampa Bay has five Top-100 prospects at present (Franco, Brendan McKay, Honeywell, Jesus Sanchez, Matthew Liberatore) while Shane Baz, Ronaldo Hernandez, Vidal Brujan and Shane McClanahan are all close to that distinction. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/toolshed-18-prospect-lessons-for-2018/c-301921864 Edited January 5, 2019 by BrassBulls12
