Depth is hurt . . .

BRANT OUT: Sophomore CB A.J. Brant is out for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee Brant suffered the injury this past weekend against Florida A&M. The Bulls are already without starting FS Danny Verpaele (foot) and backup DE Jarriett Buie (ankle).

Can he get a medical redshirt, or did he already use a redshirt year?

Even if he had a traditional redshirt, he can still apply for a medical redshirt and get a sixth year.

BULLieve that all RS's are "Medical" ... they will claim a hang nail to RS. LRS, Jr. was given an additional for special circumstances.

I thought that only worked for Seniors who already used up all of their eligibility.  Sixth years aren't given to everybody.

I don't think that's true.  All football players are allowed to take one "redshirt" year.  They then have to have extinuating circumstances, i.e. season ending injury, to be afforded the opportunity to apply for an additional, "redshirt" year.
