Sounds like something we can do at USF!

Boxing class

To break the monotony of offseason workouts, North Carolina State football players have turned to boxing. The bouts consist of three one-minute rounds and are refereed by a strength coach.

"It's just for fun, something to do, entertainment. Just mix it up and do something different," Wolfpack linebacker Oliver Hoyte said. "There's no hard feelings between us."

Hoyte, a 6-foot-3, 252-pound senior, said the matches are a mutual decision. So far, he has been unable to get anyone to agree to step into the ring with him.

"I never got a chance to box. Everybody turned me down," Hoyte said.

Others have stepped in the ring. Hoyte said last summer's bout between defensive end Maurice Charles (6-3, 254) and fullback Chauncey Graham (5-10, 217) was the best he's seen.

"Back and forth, it was a slugfest," he said of Charles' victory. "Like two Mike Tysons going head to head."

Glad we landed this kid.  Loved him coming out of HS, felt he was way, way underrated.  He's fast for his size, and a non-stop motor.

Next year's defense could be:

DE:  Buie/Charles

NT:  Clebert/Cray

DT:  E. Thomas/Robinson

DE:  Julmiste/Selvie

OLB:  Coleman

MLB:  Moffett/Mompremier

OLB:  St. Louis

LC:   Jenkins

RC:   Williams

FS:   Verpaele/Gachette

SS:  Carlton Williams/Burnett

Next Year's offense:

LT:  Springfield/Dile

OG:  Walt Walker/Hannaford

OC:  Griffin/Capogna

OG:  Huners/McElwain

RT:  Watson/Tolley

QB:  Julmiste/Denson/Hill/grothe (don't read into the order)

RB:  Ponton/Wilson/Simpson

TE:  Cedric Hill

WR:  Peyton/Jackson/Green

Slot:  Chambers/Hester

WR:  Amp Hill/Cartre

Pretty **** good blend of size, speed, and experience and talent.   This is also working off the presumption that Nicholas goes early to the NFL.  Now can you see why I am excited about 06' and 07', even if 1 or 2 of those transfers don't make it.

You know, if Hashim "Big City" Bailley hears that we have a boxing class here he might decide not to enroll next year at Memphis and come here as he originally planned.

My money is on Hashim over Maurice!  ;D

Thanx Steve ... I am excited about THIS season's group, but you are soo right about our upside. And am sure our recruiting classes will get stronger each year and start leveling out as a Top 25 class in 5 years.

P.S. Your not too high on our current underclassmen TE's ?

Go BULLS !!!

ET,

I saw clips of Busbee.  The kid can catch, I really liked his movement, quickness, and catching ability.  I liked how he caught one down the middle, and turned up quickly, and leveled a DB.  I think he's going to be a good one.

Shane McElwain, mark it down that he'll be a starting OL for USF in three years.  HUGE Kid, that has just started to grow and is a physical nut.  All his stuff was blocking all year, he loved contact, and initiated better than anyone I've seen along a line.  I like DeArmas, and Tolley, but McElwain was nasty in the way he'd initiate, and flat knock guys on their asses.  I predict he grows out of TE, and becomes a top flight guard.

McElwain was the enforcer when he played hockey, so it's no wonder he brings the same attitude to football.

Glad we landed this kid.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere else we are still waiting on his release.  Or is that just a formality and he is definitely coming here?

The DE position looks great for 2006 and beyond and hope our DT's have a great year this season, because they all return next season.

Go BULLS !!!
