TL and SJ  are not similar players... where did that come from?

Leather is a 6'9" big bodied (235 lbs) scorer that can shoot the 3, rebound, post up, pretty much do it all.

SJ is a skinny as a rail (205 lbs soaking wet) 6'11 center that has decent (not great) hands, can't dribble has no post game and is best rebounding from the offensive weak side.  SJ is more like Gerrick Morris than Leather.

The only similarity is that they are both taller than 6'8

According to many reports Brumbaugh has withdrawn from the draft.  OK State, USC, Nebraska and UF now his choices (concensus choices, my hierarchy).

Best of luck to him.It is obvious that he will go to the school where he will get more playing time and get exposure so he can go to NBA next year.

If playing time next year is his most important criteria, he'd probably get more of it at USF than any of those other schools. The Big East would be a great place to showcase his talents and he could be a star right away on our team.

He still is considering USF according to his HS Coach:

UF Roberson elects to stay in draft

Anthony Roberson joins teammate Matt Walsh in departing for the pros.

Florida basketball Coach Billy Donovan officially found out Tuesday that his job had become more difficult.

Junior guard Anthony Roberson phoned Donovan and told him he was remaining in next Tuesday's NBA draft. Roberson's decision was expected, but it nevertheless means the Gators will be without their top three players from this past season when they lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Fellow junior Matt Walsh, UF's second-leading scorer, announced last week that he would stay in the draft. He cited good workouts and encouraging words from NBA team officials as reasons he was remaining in the draft. Florida also is losing senior David Lee, its third-leading scorer and top rebounder.

Roberson was second in the Southeastern Conference in scoring, was a first-team all-league pick and runner-up for SEC player-of-the-year honors. He and Walsh are the first UF players to turn pro early since Mike Miller and Donnell Harvey in 2000. Miller and Harvey each was a first-round pick.

"Over the past three years Anthony has been an absolute pleasure to coach," Donovan said in a statement released by the school. "He's been a great player for the University of Florida, a great leader and I wish him nothing but the best."

Roberson is 6 feet 1, and his lack of size and ballhandling skills likely will hurt him on draft day. He has great range -- he's second on UF's career list for 3-pointers -- but is a mediocre passer and defender.

The Gators' leading returning scorer for next season will be forward Corey Brewer, who averaged 7.5 points per game. He and two other sophomores-to-be, point guard Taurean Green and center/power forward Al Horford, should form the nucleus of the 2005-06 team.

In other draft news, DeLand High School star Keith Brumbaugh withdrew his name from consideration. Brumbaugh, the state's Mr. Basketball as a senior last season, will sign with a college. According to DeLand Coach John Zeoli, Brumbaugh is considering Nebraska, UF, USF and Oklahoma State, and likely will make a decision within the next two weeks.

Guest BasketBull.

Actually, he wouldn't be signing anything. I guess it's like a walk-on with a scholarship waiting.

Collier may land Florida's Mr. Basketball

BY CURT McKEEVER / Lincoln Journal Star

Nebraska coach Barry Collier (LJS file)

Keith Brumbaugh, Florida's Mr. Basketball, once had his eyes on the 2005 NBA Draft. Now, they're on Nebraska.

On Thursday, Brumbaugh's high school coach at DeLand, Fla., John Zeoli, said the 6-foot-8, left-handed forward has the Huskers on his short list of colleges.

That's an interesting situation, considering Nebraska has no scholarships left to offer for next season.

Brumbaugh, who applied for the NBA Draft and then withdrew before Tuesday's deadline, averaged 30.3 points, 12 rebounds and 4.9 assists for DeLand High this past season.

"He's showing a lot of interest in Nebraska right now," Zeoli said. "A guy asked me ‘Why? Nebraska really hasn't been a frontrunner in the Big 12.' I think Keith knew he could get a lot of exposure and probably turn that program around.

"Keith has got that kind of ability."

Brumbaugh did not answers calls made to his phone Thursday.

Zeoli said he recently received a call from NU assistant Doug Novsek about Brumbaugh, who has spent the past couple months in Houston working out with 14-year NBA player and former coach John Lucas. Zeoli also was under the impression that newly-hired Nebraska assistant Jerry Francis was helping at that camp.

Zeoli faxed Brumbaugh's academic transcript to Nebraska, which was trying to get him on a recruiting visit this weekend. Apparently, though, that won't happen because Brumbaugh's last class was a correspondence course and the grade hadn't been posted. When that happens, he'll have met NCAA academic qualifications.

Other schools Zeoli said remain on Brumbaugh's list are South Florida, Florida, Oklahoma State and Southern California.

"Monday, he came by the gym and you could definitely see there was a big improvement in his playing ability, especially in his quickness," Zeoli said. "It goes to show what working with the level of guys he was playing with can do."

Zeoli just finished his 24th season as DeLand's head coach and offered that Brumbaugh, who "broke every single record" is probably the best player in school history.

Asked if Brumbaugh might consider other options besides college, Zeoli responded: "He's definitely headed to college. Anybody that gets him right now is getting a quality player. I don't know how long he'd stay  a year or four. But (wherever) he goes, he'll make a big impact."

Florida's Mr. Basketball Heading Out Of State For College

POSTED: 3:14 pm EDT June 24, 2005

UPDATED: 3:15 pm EDT June 24, 2005

DELAND, Fla. -- Keith Brumbaugh has pulled the trigger. Florida's Mr. Basketball is leaving the state to play college hoops, and it's somewhat of a surprise.

Brumbaugh told Channel 9 that he's going to Nebraska. The decision comes just days after he withdrew from the NBA Draft.

Why Nebraska? Good question, considering they haven't exactly been a basketball power.

Brumbaugh said he liked one of the coaches there and he's looking for a fresh start. One big season in Lincoln and he is sure to be headed back into the NBA Draft.
