Papa_Bull Posted June 8, 2005 Group: Member Topic Count: 375 Content Count: 3,144 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 12/23/2001 Share Posted June 8, 2005 USF Places 171 Student Athletes on C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll IRVING, Texas (June 8, 2005) – One hundred and seventy-one USF student athletes have been placed on the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and 25 USF student athletes have earned the Commissioner’s Academic Medal, as announced by Commissioner Britton Banowsky today.Having maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better while participating in a conference-sponsored sport during the 2004-05 academic year, USF had the second-most student athletes named to the honor rollâ€â€Cincinnati was ranked the highest with 173 student athletes making the honor roll. Baseball placed the highest with 24 student athletes making the honor roll followed by women’s soccer (22), women’s track and field (21), men’s soccer (15), women’s cross country (12), softball (12), women’s golf (11), men’s tennis (9), football (8 ), women’s tennis (7), men’s cross country (6), volleyball (6), men’s track and field (6), women’s basketball (4), men’s golf (4) and men’s basketball (3). Twenty-five student athletes maintained a GPA of 3.75 or higher to receive the honor of being awarded the academic medal. The women’s cross-country team led all sports, as four student athletes received the academic medal. Softball, women’s golf and women’s tennis each had three members of the team receive the award, followed by baseball, women’s track and field and men’s and women’s soccer each with two honorees. Women’s basketball, football and men’s track and field each had one recipient of the academic medal.
