  1. Although there's more potential after game 3 IMO, I don't feel any more sure that we could achieve that record. Looking forward to seeing if it clicks with SMU.
  2. Best Pro Style QB to ever come out of USF, it's a shame CWT couldn't coach him up. It's a shame he didn't fit our style of play--I liked the kid a lot but there was never much of a pocket for him to work with and the kid couldn't run well. I know you're partially kidding/baiting but CWT would have had to coach up everyone else to support his abilities, there wasn't much he could do to change MW's skill set.
  3. I think he'll be staring at 4th Q reps, if any right now. ^little Nat grew into such a beauty after that movie!
  4. If he can keep that level of play, this is the first award of many.
  5. Been a while since I had a reason to watch MNF. The Jets pants probably turned Brown when they heard DJ would play...;)
  6. not to mention about a 2 hour flight from the game...okay so you're talking about something else...
  7. no argument with a knock on the O line. That's something they'll definitely have to plan around, but I think we have a mobile enough QB and KB is capable of options (as opposed to SG) if/until that unit pulls it together. Honestly feel we're in a better situation than last year--then I'll say it's still all hope til it's real...or not.
  8. That's actually what you said. Look at Brad Johnson, he was a backup and made it in the NFL as if one example makes the whole argument. I just said he wanted playing time, saw the better talent that was going to be starting and saw the writing on the wall. Didn't mean it as a challenge to your intellect. Dude, he was comparing BJ's situation with BB's potential situation on being able to play in the NFL, not comparing QB to QB. Context indeed.
  9. He'll probably be one of those head-scratchers that get drafted because he fits the prototypical mold as opposed to his actual results in college. This. And I hope he friggin kills it at the next level...he's a strong young man to have survived the twists of the game this long, I really love to see guys like this turn it all around and break out.
  10. not for SMU I hope...that's like a 3+ hr drive from Dallas
  11. Because over the spring and summer they weren't getting down to business. But it the next 2 weeks.......by golly we'll show 'em. I'm not selling rainbows, I'm selling hope--you're a great supporter, so you gotta look past the cynicism at some point and see where we are vs where we could be if we hadn't had that spark Saturday. Their confidence is higher, their focus is better. Without that game IMO we'd have minimal chance vs SMU. You know as well as I do that spring & summer ball is mostly about conditioning and learning--rubber doesn't hit the road until real-time games. Believe what you want, but now especially with the bye and the chance to heal & address fixable issues, I think we'll have a chance in our first conference game.
  12. Of course my point was that we were making a comeback and almost completed it. That's about as much excitement out of that situation as you could hope for, and gave them something to build on for the next game--like starting McCloud.
  13. Good, I like the confidence and I love McCloud's attitude. Get to business over the bye like Ford said, and hopefully we come out looking tight vs SMU. Go Bulls!
  14. Pretty close, CBS has us at #94 but I'm pretty sure we'd have been over the century mark before Saturday. We had a stellar defensive game for turnovers, so our stats got a big boost from Saturday courtesy of FCS. I hope they can keep near those stats into the conference season!
  15. We were bad the first two games, and yet still had a chance to walk off with a win in ATL. We sputtered a little with SCSt, but what's encouraging is we didn't have another McNeese--coaches figured out what to do, and the guys manned up and played ball--both sides. They were not having another self-inflicted defeat, and that's the kind of heart this team needs. It was fun to see. Now hopefully they can do it again...and again. Just gotta see them making strides, and maybe they surprise everyone and beat some good teams.
  16. well, shots before > the whole bottle after. Here's to winning...
  17. Yep, we'll see. The horned frogs are typically a solid team.
  18. No way he gets up and walks to the sideline with that much weight on the knee if it was something season-ending. Hopefully just a bruise.
  19. "quiet confidence". Man, I loved that about QF and MM--great players don't need to hype & trash talk. Game talks, I like McCloud even more now.
  20. Yeah I mentioned this in the game thread. Last year there was NFL talk about him. It’s unreal how much he has fallen off. Sometimes kids just need to get pulled to wake them up to reality (don't just get things). Maybe this is just what he needed, or maybe he was just overrated?
  21. Nah it was the clear call IMO, but it wasn't so much that Blake wasn't performing all that well to me, it was that the team didn't seem to click with him in there. It's like they weren't excited to play or something. That's what I'd say was the tough call--do you play your highly rated guy with an amazing arm, and somehow force the team to rally around him, or do you play the young kid that seems smart, confident, and energizes the team? The decision seems really easy at this point.
  22. There are many reasons for this. But it is a growing (pun intended) problem on the O line. They did put on weight but it’s not enough and but don’t have the speed. I don’t mind the size issue if it’s at skill positions as that has been the case for a few long time with USF. I'm not sold on the whole "bigger is better" thing anyway. Seeing Ford, Joiner, Horne, and Sanders (the ones I remember) last night, I'll take their speed & agility all day over having a few more inches/pounds on their frame.
  23. What sucks is I know Blake starting cost us the win vs GT. We left a win in Atlanta. What doesn't suck is that it at worst it was an OOC loss, and at best the coaches figured out what needed to happen and made the tough call to bench the 5-star.
  24. lol first I've read through this thread. That's why you don't start one after the first possession. That start was predictable given their coming-in frame of mind, but look at the difference as the game wore on--McCloud got more comfy, receivers cut down the dropsies (mostly because they stopped throwing to St Felix ugh), D started getting aggressive again, coach started exploiting weaknesses, heck even the O line started blocking better. That was the game they needed to give us a chance.
