  1. Congrats on turning the season around…….. and I am looking forward to my Lions actually getting to the NFC Championship game for the second time in my life!! Honestly, our defense scares me, so I don’t take anything for granted (we can beat anyone and we can lose to anyone, ie Chicago). It’s gonna be an awesome/tough game, you guys are a totally different team than the last time we played and I think you can throw out the week 5 result. As my son said last night, “well, at least either the Lions or Bucs will get to the NFC Championship”. Good luck on Sunday guys, it’s gonna be a fun one!!
  2. Depending on what he thinks happens to Miami, GT, I would prefer a conference like this for sure: Miami Boston College Syracuse Wake Forest Georgia Tech Stanford? Cal? SMU? South Florida East Carolina UCONN Memphis Navy Tulane Temple Either way, if the ACC loses 8 teams, the leftovers can still form a good conference.
  3. Very true, that’s why Alabama, Auburn and LSU (Baton Rouge) are so big, they have no pro sports teams at all.
  4. You got it! You have people that grow up UF, FSU, UM, OSU fans and they want to go there because of that; but, there are ALOT of kids that look at academics, location, programs, experience opportunities and a host of other items that factor in. When it comes to USF, we are located in Tampa (good night life, beach/bay life, business/internship opportunities), nice campus (contained and not spread out throughout a city), great academics and a sports scene for sports nuts (pro and college, during our good years, haha) to satisfy everyone. Looking at Gainesville (middle of nowhere), crappy Orlando and Tallahassee, USF is just a crazy good University!! Taking sports out of it, for me personally (I am a little biased), USF is a perfect school in so many ways.
  5. I agree with everything you said. I support CAG for his decision and maybe he did ask the team. Also, maybe if the team sees he wants to come back and was not allowed, it sends the same message. I think over time, the portal will show that the grass isn’t always greener, hopefully Mr. Brown takes note of this and stays his whole time with us.
  6. I’m not gonna bag on him, but I was never impressed with him (I know I’ve posted in the past when he was here). Timmy never showed progress throughout his season here and even dropped off at the end; it’s probably why UCF is bringing in another QB.
  7. Haha, it takes a stronger person to forgive. The way I would approach it is, IF Battie reached out and wanted to come back; address the team about it. CAG has done a masterful job year one, the team bought in and were rewarded. If the team says no, then don’t extend an offer; if the team says “I love this dude, bring him back!” Then do it. I personally wouldn’t bring him back, but if he was a great teammate and the team wants him back, then it won’t hurt the culture at all.
  8. You are absolutely right, BUT, Stanford, California does not offer the market/money that L.A. or Seattle does. The fan base in Oregon is exponentially larger than Stanfords, they just didn’t make business sense for the B10.
  9. Absolutely!! When it comes to football, it’s a sport of raw emotions. CAG brings a swagger to our team that oozes confidence yet not cockiness; it’s a great balance that is great for our players and program.
  10. I love CAG and all of his comments. He is a genuine person and his passion for USF and what he is doing comes out all of the time. I will admit, I was hesitant on the hiring of CAG because of who we missed out on and after the “great Scott” debacle; but right now, there is no one else I want coaching our Bulls!! I love this guy and I just hope he stays here for the long haul and feels a similar way about us as CJL did. My hope is that success continues and we can get to the ACC sooner than later and that’s enough for CAG to stay (plus money of course). I know it’s only one year, but I just like his personality and he did an amazing job year one!! Go CAG and Go Bulls!!
  11. Wait, so you’re saying a P5 team that went undefeated, doesn’t “deserve” a playoff spot over two 1 loss teams, because they continued to win without their starting QB?? I don’t think any sport that has playoffs, decides what teams get in based on anything but records and tie breakers. I can’t think of a more corrupt system that would let someone override season results for who they “think” is better based on roster conditions…. Playoffs are decided by records and championships, FSU should have been in the CFP and it is criminal that they are not. Those poor kids were just screwed by a bunch of pompous a-holes that decided they didn’t want FSU in and robbed them of the experience and the program of the money and achievement. I dislike FSU big time, but what was done to them was plain wrong.
  12. This is amazing!! This is what community support looks like, I love to see it. What did the Glazers/Bucs do????
  13. Spot on, it’s all about how many people are interested and watching your program (advertising = money/value). Everything you mentioned is all part of the equation. Therefore, to answer the question of whether it’s enough, for right now it is, because we currently do not have one, haha. The fact it will be expandable is a key feature and if there is any movement in expansion, they can build that into it as a modification during the build process (if it happens in the next year or two, but I’m not planning on it).
  14. I do like this chart, but I don’t think this is an accurate chart for most “popular” teams, in terms of expansion. It does show the potential fan base we have.
  15. Keep it up, every little improvement adds up. It’s not easy, but it will pay off. Your doing great!!
  16. Awesome!!! I am glad to hear that, keep up the good work and you two will be walking together in no time!
  17. Look, my personal opinion; schools shouldn’t be able to pay players (or NIL, football is supposed to be an extracurricular activity), the players should be able to transfer when they want (they are free individuals). Schools shouldn’t be spending hundreds of millions on athletics facilities when they are a public funded university. All of that money should be used on academics and any extra should be paid back to the people of the state that help fund them. I absolutely love sports and competition; but we’ve lost cabin pressure and reality with college sports. All of the NIL, conference expansion, facilities war, it’s out of control. Ok, I’ll get off my soap box, haha.
  18. 100%!! College football is supposed to be played on campus, in front of students and alumni!! @puc86 and @CousinRicky, you two are spot on when you look at it from the business side (and believe me, I know college football is a business). That said, the proper way to live life, is being in the moment, TRY and plan for the future while only look in the past to learn from mistakes and to remember where you were (as a bench mark on your own personal progress). This stadium is good for the current team, students and alumni, we honestly cannot predict where college football will be or where we will be playing, so right now they are building a 35k stadium for n campus with the ability to expand in the future. It seems to me that they learned from the past, building for the present and planned on a possible future. I love it and I think it is the right path. We don’t know what NIL I’ll look like so as long as we are competitive with our fellow conference opponents, we will be just fine.
  19. All of your points are valid. It really depends on how you look at it. From an expansion point of view having an OCS is a plus. We all know that winning is king; so my answer for the OP is, more attractive. As for an OCS, I’ll keep it brief. Nearly all G5 schools have an OCS, depending on how good the team is, is how good the attendance is. Regardless of conference affiliation, we will have a football team. To that point, from a team, school, student and alumni experience, an OCS is better, so build it; plain a simple. The stadium will be paid off so let’s not cry about the “last strike”, we will have a football team regardless, so give them a real home and our current students and alumni a reason to come back.
  20. I don’t think the point was “looks less bad”. The way I have always looked at it is that with a bad football team, less students will travel to Ray Jay as opposed to walking across campus. The more the students go to games, typically, the more loyal they will be. Getting alumni back to campus and having family with them will create new Bulls fans that can fall in love with the campus and schools after spending time there, rather than a parking lot waiting to going into the Buccaneers stadium. It’s a better “college football” environment that has a better experience for new and old students. So, yes, spending millions on a project that can help being more people in campus is worth it!! My opinion of course.
  21. For the comments about the “complainers” and “you can’t please everyone”, this is just a discussion. It wouldn’t be much of a conversation if everybody simply agreed “this is great!”. While I for one am a little disappointed with the initial design concept, I am so excited that it is happening and we will have our own stadium. With that said, there is nothing wrong with other opinions especially when it come to design, it’s all subjective, that’s what can make it fun. I don’t think I’ve read any comments of “this is crap, let’s stay in Ray Jay”.
  22. Funny thing, is I just looked up a bunch of pictures of UNT’s stadium and your spot on, looks almost cut and paste with adding the other end with stands. This upsets me, haha.
  23. Haha, you’re right, so UNT is our standard now? Jkjk………
  24. Agreed, it looks a little cheap compared to SDSU or CSU’s. I understand materials are more expensive now, but there are ways around the cheap look; but, I don’t hate it, I only kind of like it objectively”. Bottom line, is I love it because it’s ours and it’s not red with a pirate ship.
