  1. 11 lead changes and 7 ties, lot of back and fourth. From the box score, Rice 9-2 advantage on fast break points. To me, that highlights 2 problems, 1. We didn't run like we normally do. We like to push the tempo, and look for opportunities to push the ball. We clearly didn't. 2. We missed too many layups. I am not calling any players out by name, but we have too many players that aren't scoring on opportunities where we should be scoring. Lots of close games this year. Lets beat UTSA and get back on the right track.
  2. No, becauce we are not going independent. But the idea that we could survive as an independent in today's landscape is wild. Anyone asking for it simply doesn't understand how that would destroy us.
  3. That is the rumor, and the rumor says they already have a conference home. (not said who it will be, but it has to be the A-Sun)
  4. Please stop talking about going Independent. UConn had a great home for every sport except football. If we go Independent in football, we will be in the A-Sun with University of Tampa in a couple years when they join for everything else. That would destroy our program. There is no realistic way to make being an independent work. No TV money, no decent home for our other sports, no NCAA tournaments, everything gone.
  5. Guessing he wasn't on here, because he ran a different USF site.
  6. This is right, those are the top 3 ... but allow me to continue the list. 4. Big 12 invites USF 5. New conference that represents the best of the left outs invites USF. 6. Nothing changes. 7. Some top schools leave the AAC but USF remains, FIU is invited. 1-3 Home Run 4 Triple 5 Double 6 Walk 7 GIDP
  7. We sold out the money tickets, but back then (before doing business online was a thing) - students just showed up, we would scan their ID to make sure they were a current student and give them a ticket as they walked in. The decision was made not to turn away any students, so we had to open sections when more students showed up than seats in the student section. We just barely got that sellout, and wanted to announce it as a sellout, meaning opening more seats wouldn't have increased the crowd ..... But In 2007, I think we could have sold 85,000 tickets to USF vs. WVU. Those were be scalped for good money and we sold out early in the week and could have sold a ton more tickets, if the stadium held more.
  8. I don't blame him. For about $250,000 I could even be a UCF fan. I also don't blame coach for saying no. In the end I trust coach and USF to do what is best for USF.
  9. Since this is wear green Wednesday, I thought it was a great time to remind Bulls fans that the bookstore on all 3 campuses still have Our Shirts for sale for $6 each. The shirts are a bargain, and support the work of SG enriching the student experience of all USF students. The Bookstore only sells these in person. As you all can imagine, producing shirts with 3 different imprints in multiple ink colors and selling them for $6 means razor thin margins, so the bookstore does not ship them.
  10. The trailer I mentioned was real, we did it in 1998 as we moved from Tampa Stadium to Ray Jay. Me, John, Jim Louk and others worked it meeting with all of our season ticket holders. It couldn't handle the summer heat, so it got really hot after lunch.
  11. I heard a rumor that we were going to rent the smallest trailer ever built and park it outside the Yuengling Center and let people come in one by one to pick their seats spread out over many months.
  12. I just wanted to say to make this more fair, it should only be the games that fall under their leagues tv contract, so, all conference games plus home non-conference games. For example, if North Texas played at Notre Dame and NBC put the game on prime time (and only Notre Dame got tv revenue from that game), why should the AAC give more of the league's ESPN money to North Texas because they helped NBC/Notre Dame make more money.
  13. Just my hunch, they will let people pick in prioirt order, as opposed to trying to assign the seats based on what everyone had before. (I was there when we did it for the last football move, and I was a donor and ticket holder for the Sun Dome post renovation reseating, where people could make their selections)
  14. I think most of you know, today is first day of class at USF. That is not to say transfers can't find creative ways to still come, but for the most part, time is running out for the ones who are coming in the Spring.
  15. I keep wondering if we are lucky enough to get an invite to a new conference before the groundbreaking if they don't bump up capacity before it is too late. Nothing dramatic, maybe just get it into the low 40s. (I agree, building then adding on right away seems like a bad plan)
  16. Potential for more shuffling (not just us). Now that NFL head coaches are getting fired, if any college coaches get a NFL job, that may start a domino effect. Like for a random example. If Jim Harbaugh gets an NFL job, who replaces him at Michigan, how much of his current staff goes with him. With the portal getting quiet as the semester starts, I think we see coaching movement in the upcoming weeks (not speaking about USF, just in general, we have to wait and see if it impacts us).
  17. By the way, I said this half joking in a tweet. We should play C. Fla. in San Juan in week 0 (every year, some years, whenever). Playing a game off the continental 48, allows you to play 13 regular season games, and play in week 0. By playing in San Jaun we can both play an extra game, and it is relatively cheap to get there from Florida.
  18. I'm curious to see who on our future schedules buys out gams. 1. I can see Notre Dame buying out the game in Tampa (or both games). I think stadium size is an issue, and we may have to agree to Ray Jay to keep that game. They want to play in front of their fans, and will want a bunch of tickets. 2. NC State has already told us they may have to buy out the game, per ACC requirements. (which may lead to Miami and Louisville buying out too) - as the ACC has told their member not to play any more road games at G5 schools. Of course, the ACC has bigger issues to worry about. 3. I'm not sure we play both games at Alabama if we keep getting better, I could see them buying out the last one. This list obviously changes if our conference changes.
  19. Enjoy. Tulane is always on my travel list as much as possible. I'm 3 road trips this year for WBB, but this is the game I wish was on my list.
  20. Jim did retire from the career job in Athletics. But still works as a freelance broadcaster for many USF events.
  21. Once the ACC GOR is broken, anyone with a Big 10 or SEC invite will be gone. The interesting thing, can the rest stay together, or will they panic and run to the Big 12. If the rest stays together, adds in schools like USF, the ACC can still be in competition to be the 3rd best conference. (remember, the BIG 12 is just left over schools the SEC and Big 10 didn't want) If the Big 12 gets to pick off schools too, then the remains are hard to call a power conference. (but still an upgrade for USF) The key for USF, when the dust settles is to be in one of the top 4 conferences.
  22. Football winning is huge, and our numbers are coming off the Jeff Scott era. We all can think of tickets, because it is visual to see the stadium full or empty, but it is so much more. Donations and merch sales also largely ride the wave of football success.
  23. Bigger picture: USF WBB under Coach Fernandez is a program I don't worry about, meaning that if we have a down year, I know it isn't a trend. We lost our 3 best playes from last year (end of eligibility/turned pro, plus Sammie getting hurt). We added some good pieces, but right now, what we added doesn't equal what we lost. Going to have lots of games come down to the wire this year. The regular season is just positioning for the conference tournament, as the AAC is a 1 bid league. Lets work on getting better and hope for a hot hand at the AAC tourney.
  24. We should have been favored in both UCF games, since we made them our *******. ****** equals female dogs.
  25. UAB and Charlotte have decent arenas. FAU arena I've been in many times. I fondly remember one time when i was home from USF over winter break going to a FAU MBB game whose attendance was 8 (not counting workers, or players, of course).
