  1. 35 minutes tops, you simply aren't driving fast enough.
  2. We would need to send someone into the commencement to see if they would hear our fight song through the walls.
  3. Memphis is like 45 minutes west of Atlanta.... see you there!
  4. I don't remember Memphis. UAB was angry because just prior they went I-A, and C-USA didn't think they were ready, so they the league made them wait 2 years for admission. When we went 1-A we were much better prepared (in terms of resources) to join the league, but UAB argued that we should have to wait like they had to wait. To John's point, Memphis might have agreed with them, I don't recall that, but I'm old and forget lots of things. But UAB lead the effort to get our admission delayed.
  5. Yes, that made many of our fans think So Miss was the blocker that made us delayed, but it was really the UAB administration.
  6. You scout using film (that doesn't shows signs) .... sending someone in person is cheating (per the NCAA rules), and that is the only reason to send someone. Film is better for scouting than one person sitting in the stands.
  7. Investigation that they were sending people to their future opponents to learn the signs for the plays.
  8. One more tidbit, for years, fans thought it was Southern Miss blocking us, but it was really UAB. Southern Miss was one of the best in the league back then, and our AD let fans blame the wrong school as part of hoping to build a rivalry. Sort of like that onside kick last week.
  9. So, here is the history..... We were planning on joining C-USA in 2001, when we went I-A, but one school blocked it, UAB. UAB was bitter that they were made to wait 2 years when they moved up before joining the league, so they made us wait. C-USA knew we we were planning on being in the league 2001 and 2002, so they promised to help us with scheduling, that is why we got some of those games. (I know you aren't talking about the same games, because the C-USA games are different ones, but we were forced to be an Independent for 2 years due to UAB)
  10. I was there. I collect autographs. After the game I was waiting by the press box elevator for Doug Flutie (who is a tough autograph). He comes down, I am the only autograph seeker there, he blows by me, won't acknowledge me. I start walking with him, and I used this line, "Doug, I'm a USF fan, I am going home heartbroken, at least let me go home with your autograph." He stops and signs for me.
  11. There was a small window of gold pants. They are not a big part of our history. Whenever we wear them I think I am looking at Baylor or UAB.
  12. This is timely. I have sat through USF games where I wondered if the other team knew our signals. We all heard what happened to Michigan today. FAU was one of those games. (Arkansas was another) I can also tell part of a story that in one of our upset wins, we knew if the other team was running or passing every down, because one of the offensive lineman had a tell, and our coaches found it on film before the game. (this was over 10 years ago, and not cheating)
  13. We were 16-6 in the two seasons leading up to the decision. So, its not like we were bad. All conference invites are based on potential. No conference cares about rewarding anyone for what they did, they only care what you can do for their conference in the future.
  14. We earned it with our potential, and the BE wanting a presence in Florida.
  15. We already accepted the invite before the 4-7 season. So, that bad year had no impact because it was already done prior to it.
  16. UConn must be doing a white out and asked us to wear our home jerseys on the road. So, Bulls fan attending, be sure to wear Green and not white USF shirts, as they will just look like more of the UConn fans.
  17. Me too.* *My version of nature will be a dreary cold, rainy day where the sky is gray in East Hartford, CT.
  18. Agreed. As I sat there last week against FAU I wondered if they figured out our signals, or tuned into our headsets. That second half was as ugly as it gets.
  19. I think we have more "talent" than UConn, and match up well against them. They do not appear to have a dynamic offense. Putting aside the scores, talent wise, there is only one game USF has played where the more talented team didn't win (in my opinion) and that is Rice. I think the QB injury and our O clicking led to a win when they had more talent. That being said, I think we over performed against Alabama too, in that the talent gap was huge, but we kept it close. Likewise, we underperformed the last two weeks, as I do think UAB and FAU have more talent than us, but no where near the disparity as the scores would indicate. If we just win the games where we bring the most talent on the field, then we are headed to 6-6. And - the really good news, the talent should be getting better next year. (disclaimer, I am speaking of collective talent of the whole roster, and this isn't meant to be calling out the players)
  20. Fair enough. For perspective, our biggest win gain year over year was +4 (Willie Taggart went from 4 to 8 wins). So if we get to a bowl game, it will be our best year over year win gain in our history.
  21. I know the last two weeks sucked. Too much hype, talking about running the table. Our path to 6 wins continues with a win over UConn this weekend. We aren't a good team yet, but we aren't a horrible team any more either. Good recruiting, things are looking up overall. Anyone who lived through the last 3 years would be wise to stick this out, as I think we can see the light on the other end of the tunnel that we have been in for too long already.
  22. Sometimes people say they "donated" but that includes their tuition, their kids tuition, they merch purchases, plane ticket to road games, tickets, donation to the college of business. I have no idea who the OP is, but I am curious is they are claiming they actually donated $100k to the Bulls Club or if they mean they spent $100k on usf. Either way, I hate to lose any fans, and will welcome them back when things are better (and they will be soon, really)
