    UConn is the closest example, but they voluntarily decided that basketball was their priority. Southern Miss was never in a BCS conference.

    You didn't answer the question of why we should never have been in the BCS. I think we were a great fit.

    Why? We had some outstanding games, and 50k average attendance, not to mention ranked in the top 25 at some point in the season almost every year. The school just hasn't invested anything into the program in 20 years except new sod on practice fields.

    I can't think of any BCS team that has dropped 2 tiers in conference stature like we have (BE > AAC > AAC 2.0), let alone a downward spiral. We will never move out of the basement of college football without significant investment in the program. If we do not build an OCS, then start paying players NLI money directly...

    Whatever it takes, let's just get it done. Make part of it a mall, sell used cars, contract it out to Joel Osteen, whatever. Just Most big schools have a ticket raffle for students AND they still have to pay for them. Another $10/student/semester is reasonable if tickets remain free for students.

    My only real complaint is that we punted on 3rd and 8 close to mid field with 11:00 left in the 4th down by 3 touchdowns. If you want your players to play 60 full minutes, you have to coach 60 full minutes.
